That's how we picked up Girard last year.

i thought a trade involved getting something in return Not mandatory. The Roussin trade is most likely set up that if Roussin shows up in Quebec, Rimouski will receive some form of compensation (players, draft picks).

Not if they are conditional.
Look at the Bourdon trade on the Q site. Do you see Marchand's name anywhere? We all know he is going to Val d'Or at the draft.

if rimouski comes in last does this benefit them somehow The two teams that miss the playoffs will have a 50/50 chance at getting the first overall pick ... Rimouski cannot guarantee themselves 1st overall pick ... but they can guarantee themselves a Top 2 pick. 1st overall is slecetd by a lottery system ... or simply drawn out of a hat with the two only the two non-playoff teams in the hat.

Nope
They will be in the lottery for the 1st overall pick.

They could have a coin toss, would be cheaper than buying a hat. ;D

isnt that how they got crosby & richards There was no lottery then ... last place got first pick ... and if I'm not mistaken Brad Richards was not selected first overall ... and we could have selected him.
