I thought Welton played very well last night. Showed a lot more heart but A Mac probably had one of his worst games so far this year. Crossman and Campbell played well. decent shots from the point as well. Might be two decent pickups. At least they add a bit of size to our backend. But now what happens to Emanuelle and Ouskun? A Mac, Welton and Pianosi will play so that leaves, Campbell, Crossman, Boyle (injured) Emanuelle, Ouskun, Herr, and possibly Bourdon. Not that its a bad thing to be deep in D men but who are the best combos? A Mac and Crossman Welton and Campbell Pianosi and Ouskun Emanuelle as 7th? I expect we are bringing in all of these new Dmen because there are likely deals in place for perhaps both of Welton and MacDonald. These trades may take place before the trading period opens ... perhaps a two part deal with a player coming the other way during the trading period. I was thinking the same way. I figure they have extra Dmen to replace the imminent departure of A Mac and Welton. This probably also means we would be getting forwards or draft picks in the deals.

In order for Crossman to stick long term, he has to be in the top 4. If he is the equal or close to Campbell Ouskun and Herr then they should get the ice time instead.
Right now Welton A.Mac and Pianosi are locks and the others are battling for the other 3 spots.
Next year there will be a big transition as Welton A.Mac will be gone as well as Emanuele unless he has a huge 2nd half.

To ease the transition I d rather see either Welton or A Mac(or both) gone in the second half of the season.

"Riopel did not play a good game and did deserve to get yanked for the 3rd."Yeah cause Sniderman played so much better . 3 goals on 8 shots. The Wildcats are trying to write another chapter in their book "How to Destroy a Young Goaltender". Maybe Rio should have a chat with Blanchard on Friday night so he can know what to expect next.

How is pulling a young goalie after 5 goals "destroying" him? We're not talking about Davis with Larue here, pulling him after he gives up a goal on the first shot. If he can't cope with getting pulled from a game, he'll never be a #1 goalie in the Q. I didn't know Blanchard was ever "destroyed", he's 3rd in GAA and 2nd in save percentage with a .500 team in front of him.

What does Sniderman playing bad have anything to do with Steve's comment? Don't get me wrong, I hate Steve just as much as everyone else(just kidding there UseLess) Hindsight is 20/20 but Steve was looking at is from the 2nd intermission point of view. Side note : Torchetti knew that the game was close and he wanted to boost his team to try and grab the 2 points.

I think it was the right call to pull Riopel after 2 - it wasn't his night. Sniderman wasn't much better, but did come up big in the shootout. Pulling him shouldn't be too hard on his confidence if they don't let it linger ... play him again soon (not necessarily tomorrow) and it will be behind him - don't sit him for three weeks because then it may eat at him.

Sooo ... you are saying that Riopel shouldn't have been pulled because Sniderman didn't play any better ... is that right ? Do you think Torchetti could predict the future when he made his decision. When I say Riopel deserved to be pulled ... it has nothing to do with Sniderman's play after the fact ... I simply think it was the right thing to do at that moment. In the real world we don't have hindsight at our disposal ... only critical little girls use that as a debating point. Go clean your purse.

Well Madame Zadak does, but she doesn't do sports readings.

At this juncture, you could argue that keeping him in for the third (and possibly getting lit up even further) would've killed his confidence even worse. How could Torchetti know during the second intermission that Sniderman would give up three in the third? Blanchard's biggest problem when he was here was Crawford coming back during the lockout year and the team in front of him not scoring when he WAS in nets. He was always a sound #2 guy with us... and is a #1 guy in Victo... one of the best in the league early on. Not quite sure what your definition of "destroyed" is.

Can anyone tell me if Brandon Greenside was traded or was cut or was sent back to JR "A" in Ontario....? He is no longer on the roster and I missed the transaction

Even though this game was not a clinic on defense it was probably one of the most entertaining reg season game in quite awhile. Really impressed with how the guys don't seem to quit. Same thing in B-C. Decent scrap both landed solid punches but I am gonna have to give it to Herr as I think Manson's nose was broke. (at least thats what I thought I saw him say on the way to the box.) All in all good two points for the Cats. Stupid stat but we have been the cause of over 30% of lewistons's GA so far this season. ;D Yep ... Herr busted his nose ... dropped him with a bomb ... Manson had the towel on his face for his stint in the penalty box but it continued to bleed ... he even took of his sweater in the box because he was bleeding so bad. He then got up and went to the dressing room ... 2nd period ... and never returned. TKO Herr. Apparently Manson is pretty beat....he's got a cut on his hand from a few fights vs Brad Gallant over a week ago and he had a cut on his nose from his fight with Tim Spencer the other night....thus explaining the blood coming from his nose.He also fought Kirk Forrest last night,regardless.......pretty tough kid if u ask me....a true warrior.
