Goaltenders 1- Jean-Christophe Blanchard (Wildcats), 2- Guillaume Blouin (Val d'Or, QMJHL), 3- Matt Leduc (Miramichi junior A) 4- Nicola Riopel (Quebec midget AAA) Sounds like Blanchard is #1, Blouin #2 and Leduc will be the affiliate/#3...Riopel headed back to MAAA.
Defencemen 1-Oskars Bartulis (Wildcats), 2-Nathan Welton (Wildcats), 3-Maxime Belanger (Baie-Comeau, QMJHL), 4-Jean-Sebastien Adam (Wildcats), 5-Jason Demers (Wildcats), 6-Charles Tanguay (Wildcats), 7-Nick Emanuele (Antigonish junior A), 8-Andrew MacDonald (Truro junior A) 9-Brayden Penner (British Columbia junior A) 10-Chris Gardiner (Fredericton midget AAA), 11- Brad Ouskun (Manitoba junior A), 12-Scott Judson (Moncton junior A),
The top 5 guys, Adam Bartulis Belanger Welton Demers appear to be locks with Adam missing the start of the season. After those guys, MacDonald and Penner have showed they belong in the Q, with macDonald it depends on his "NCAA" decision. Emanuele should also be in the mix, he has played a very solid defensive game and played physical. Tanguay could find himself on the outside looking in. Gardiner and Judson would be affiliates. If not star power, there are 8-9 guys that can play in the Q.
Forwards 1-Martins Karsums (Wildcats) 2-Bruce Graham (Wildcats) 3-Adam Pineault (Wildcats) 4-Stephane Goulet (Wildcats) 5-Brad Marchand (Wildcats) 6-Christian Gaudet (Wildcats) 7-Jerome Samson (Wildcats) 8- Ian Girard (Wildcats) 9-Josh Hepditch (Wildcats) 10-Jean-Philippe Chabot (Quebec midget AAA) 11-Matt Marquardt (Ontario junior A) 12- Tim Spencer (Saskatchewan junior A)
13- Taylor Moore (British Columbia junior A) 14- Daniel Calitri (Ontario midget AAA) 15- Shaun Clinton (Ontario junior A) 16- Steve Obelnicki (Manitoba junior A) 17- Matt Eagles (U.S. prep school) 18-Stanson Donovan (Wildcats) 19- Nathan Francis (Miramichi midget AAA) 20- Yan Ouimet (Quebec junior A) 21- Bobby Mazerolle (Quebec junior A) 22- Marc-Andre Labelle (Quebec midget AAA) 23-Jason Lepage (Quebec midget espoirs) 24- Brad Smith (P.E.I. midget AAA) 25- Chris Morehouse (Amherst junior A) 26- Chad McQuaid (P.E.I. midget AAA) 27- Corey Garland (Moncton midget AAA)
The first 7 spots are locks. Hepditch and Girard will probably start the season, hepditch could play forward or defense. Chabot and Marquardt have earned their spot, assuming Marquardt has signed on here instead of NCAA. Spencer and Moore have apparently signed on, that adds up to 13. Calitri Clinton Obelnicki and Eagles are the 4 candidates left for 1 or 2 spots barring trades/surprises. #18 to 27 would be affiliates/prospects for next year.

When you say that they are locks is that your opinion or is that inside info? I'd say just common sense......and I don't even follow your team. ;D

When you say that they are locks is that your opinion or is that inside info? My opinion. I wouldn't be so quick to load the team with last years wildcats. Remember that team only finished midpack in the q with Bernier and Saunders. Some of the new guys are stronger players. I might say the top five forwards are locks and the rest are earning their spot. I'd also say that the coach needs to cut five players so that he can focus on the midpack players.

Last year's Wildcats would have finished quite a bit higher without the 2nd half rash of injuries, Karsums , Graham , Caron and Pineault all missed extended time in the 2nd half.

Along with Pelham's back to back injuries. Fragility, we do not need this year.

When everyone, minus Karsums, returned they couldn't have beaten Quebec and luckily beat Drummondville. I think your giving them too much credit. I wouldn't think you will see Girard or Hepditch start this year. I would substitute that you will see Gaudet and Samsom start but not a lock on the year.

Karsums in the lineup and Graham at 100% would have made a big difference against Rouyn-Noranda. Quebec was not a team that scared anybody, they had inconsistant goaltending and a young/inexperienced defense. Cutting Salvis weakened the team also. Girard and Hepditch will both start the year and be around until better 20 year olds are acquired. gaudet and samson WILL BE here all year. Someday you'll get a clue...

If Pelham had of stayed with the Cats and stayed healthy (that's the big if), their fate may have been different. That mistake became quickly obvious to the Cats. But like Karsums, Pelham must have trouble finding an insurance company.

Holy 180 on your part, weren't you the one on here bringing Marchand down basically calling him a "no talent ass clown" and talking up Girard?? Now you don't want him? Hepditch and Girard at this point in time are on the team IMO. Unless we make a trade for 2 players that we know WILL be in the Q this year, those 2 will be sticking until I'd say Christmas.

I said that I liked Girard's energy but I also did say that Girard like Marchand Like Moorehouse Like Eagles Like Moore are too small. Marchand I hear is up 20 lbs and that's very very encouraging. Also I would never insult Marchand or any other player by calling them a "no talent ass clown".

Unless Graham plays like someone 6'6" he's not a lock either. Remember coach Nolan is a fan of hard work. He doesn't HAVE to keep anyone from last year. With the exception of maybe Blanchard and Moore and Spencer who he just signed, I'd say the other positions are all up for grabs until Nolan has a chance to evaluate them in an actual game and not just intrasquad. Nolan and Flynn won a Memorial Cup with a blue collar team....not blue chip players.
I expect we'll see exactly why Taylor Moore is here on Thursday against the Titan.
