I could also see starting Marquardt on the 2nd line ahead of Girard, he is bigger and has better hands around the net, he could score 25 or more on a scoring line. I haven't seen any of the pre-season games, but from what I have heard about Marquardt (big, good hands, poor skater) it sounds as though he would be a poor fit on the third line due to his immobility, and probably a waste on the 4th line since he appears to have scoring talent. Playing him on a second line would seem to make sense... Actually he skates well for a big man, he plays a smilar style to Goulet but he is bigger, maybe not as quick.

This is the lineup I got from the Q site. Gardiner and Belanger are missing. Probably nothing official there.

On the roster listed on the Q site, Belanger and Gardiner are not there...26 players listed...might just be a typo.

Also, they list Hepditch as a D and Ouskun as forward.

Hepditch is a D man he came into the league as such, he has always been listed by the Q as such,
the fact that nolan chooses to use him up front, does not change his league status as a D man.

I have heard that the wildcats have picked up a overage player.
Can anybody speculate who he is. I would guess probably a forward upgrade until Xmas.

He would probably be a solid third liner, which might be more than we can say for our current crop... Danny Stewart could be another possibility - not sure he would be a player the Cats would be interested in, his work ethic has often been questioned and he may not fit in with the type of team we are trying to build; but if he came cheap he is a definite upgrade on either of Hepditch/Girard... There was also a comment in this mornings A-N re: the rumours heating up that Philippe Dupuis was heading to Moncton... that would be the best case scenario IMO, we already have his rights and he would be an immediate impact player with past championship experience...

Unless Graham plays like someone 6'6" he's not a lock either. Remember coach Nolan is a fan of hard work. He doesn't HAVE to keep anyone from last year. With the exception of maybe Blanchard and Moore and Spencer who he just signed, I'd say the other positions are all up for grabs until Nolan has a chance to evaluate them in an actual game and not just intrasquad. Nolan and Flynn won a Memorial Cup with a blue collar team....not blue chip players. I expect we'll see exactly why Taylor Moore is here on Thursday against the Titan. Ted is also not an idiot, it's easier to motivate a skill player to play harder than to make a scorer out of a hard worker with no skill. Graham may get the whip more often but he is still a guy that can put up 80 points and almost singlehandedly win some games. He is a glass half full/glass half empty type of player.

Nothing has ever been said of Graham's injuries last year ... we all know he broke his leg ... but he also injured his shoulder which was never really mentioned. I believe he injured it in a fight with Charles Fontaine ... and shortly after that he broke his leg. When he returned many noticed he wasn't taking faceoffs ... and the shoulder injury was the reason ... also a reason why he played very soft in the playoffs. Nolan mentioned he had shoulder surgery not long ago and that he was only recently playing with any type of physical contact in practice. That was never known during the playoffs ... and I think Graham deserved a little slack considering. Seems to me he actually toughed it out ... played hurt ... and showed some character.
