I heard he didn't want to report to Shawinigan...he would help the Beavers draw some good crowds.

Does Phoenix still own his rights? I wonder what they think of all this.

I don't think it really mattered to them where he played........he is there for one thing and it's not to play hockey.......he can do the same job on a shit team, as he would on a contender.......he won't make the NHL for any hockey skills.

Cormier will never play in the NHL. They said the same thing about Jody Shelley.

I'm sure he had the option of playing ECHL....instead he chose to join his brother.

Pounding "legit tough guys" is not even close to fighting with the big boys in the NHL........Charlie Bergeron is a legit tough guy in the Q, but I don't think he could beat half of the heavys in the league.

The new rules make a player like Cormier, who is a terrible skater and has limited skills, a liabilty on most teams.
My bet, at best he could be a career ECHL player, or lower.
Nothing against him, but he has focussed his energy on a skill that is not as important as it once was, and there is a good supply of fighters who bring more talent to the game than Cormier.

His skating has improved. The NHL still has 20-25 guys that have little or no offensive skills and play the tough guy role. That role will always be there as long as there are star players to protect, Anaheim has 2-3...Thornton O'Brien and Parros

Agreed somewhat, but if Cormier ever makes NHL you can be sure he will have to prove himself in the AHL first.....they won't feed him to the wolves right away. He is arguably the top fighter in the CHL...what makes you think that he won't handle the big boys after a few years of tune-ups in the minors? If my memory serves me well didn't he fair well in all his fights at the 2005 & 2006 Pacific rookie tournaments(where he fought Tremblay etc...)

Bergeron is a middleweight in the Q, he doesn't even drop with guys like Cormier, bad example.
