According to the T and T and Troy Dummville he has made a commitment to the Beavers for next season. He wants to keep his NCAA eligibility open. Not saying that this is the case but if Quebec (because of Tessier and Sauve) or Moncton (hometown) drafted him would he come or is he using this to get drafted by a team same as Espo?? Or does he just really want to go to NCAA. It would be a shame for the Q though to not be able to see him cause he is really exciting to watch.

I think this is a smoke screen to allow him to land with the Wildcats, The Cats are also looking at using similar situations to get a goalie, dman, and an american player who otherwise would go fairly early.

I wouldn't say its the same for them all, but having talked to more then a few of the players at the game, and they all have the story of "would have gone sooner at the draft but I told everyone I was going NCAA". I just write it off to youth and stary-eyed parents.

Well I think the Cats are looking to land him (just speculation) but Quebec picks ahead and the way Tessier and MacAusland played at the under 17's they may pick him before we do.

I know Quebec picks ahead of Moncton, but don't be surprised if the Cats make a couple of deals and either move up from their current position or add a higher pick to the one they have now, also heard the Cats may try to get Tessier here as well, although that was just gossip from some fans.

Since we are somewhat on the topic of the draft and didnt want to start a new thread, I've got word that Chris Ivanko of the Dartmouth Subways will be at training camp in August on a free agent tryout. Havent had a chance to see him play. What type of player is he?

I like Ivanko actually...he is about the same package as MacLellan(5'9" 172lbs and speed) but more of an offensive player...Season 20-20-40 in 33 games...playoffs 8-9-17 in 12 games.

I think MacAusland will be an excellent junior player...but I would not use my 1st rounder on him given what his situation is. Maybe gamble in the 3rd round.

Ivanko is a pepper-pot...great shot, good speed, a pest...he was at Saint John camp in 2006...didnt do too well from what I heard. But he had a big improvement from last year to this past season.

Not sure why he would choose the Cats as a free agent for next season ... we have a logjam upfront, he is going to have his work cut out for him to make the team. You would think he would be looking for a team with more openings ... Cape Breton, perhaps? Maybe we are the only ones interested ...

MACAUSLAND will be drafted anyway,in the first 3 round.Too many guys now are playing the ncaa card. Some team are ready to take the risk.Don't forget ,the qmjhl now will give a compensation for players not comming.Team will select a player 18 choices later if he doesn't report. But to have that choice ,teams must give the players his liberation and then the player is now eligible for the next draft

I'd do that with a 4th or 5th ... but not a 1st to 3rd. If you were my GM I'd let you do that once ... a second time wasting a valubale asset and I'd fire your ass.
