Heard a rumour today that Chris Bourque will not be playing for the Wildcats this season. But he will be playing in Maine. For the Portland Pirates...

Portland is the AHL team of Anaheim ... Chris was drafted by Washington whose AHL team is now Hershey.

I dont understand french very well but from what I know, I just heard that the Wildcats will be without Chris Bourque this season. He will be playing for Portland, Maine. It was J.R. that said it and he does have alot of connections with the Wildcats. So, hearing it from him, makes it seem that much more believeable.

JR merely reported what was written in the paper this morning. He even made the same mistake about the AHL team. He didn't use his contacts with the Cats for that report.

Damn it... I know you guys want to be optimistic... If that is the case, you should hope Bourque doesn't perform well enough in WHATEVER AHL team he goes to and that Whatever team owns his whatever rights decides to send him to Moncton for a whatver Memorial cup experience he could get here. It was reported in news reports. In my mind, it's clear Chris Bourque will be trying out for the AHL, if it doesn't work, he'll play for the Wildcats. Depending on the depth his AHL team has, I think there is still a fairly good chance we see him. Same as Saunders.

Not really the same...Saunders is 20 and Bourque is 19, plus Bourque does not have a contract signed yet.

It doesn't matter if Saunders has a contract or not, if they feel he is not quite ready for NHL/AHL, and he would develop better with a memorial cup experience instead of the ECHL, they will send him back to Moncton.

I think from what we know now, Saunders chances are about 25%, Bourque it's hard to say, I would have said 60-70% but for whatever reason the papers are reporting him going in the AHL...but it's not directly from him or the Capitals.

Capitals don't have alot of depth.. they haven't exactly been filling their roster with NHL players meaning it would appear they will use alot of their AHL team to fill out their NHL roster this coming season... meaning lots more opportunity for Bourque to make the AHL team

If the "newspaper reports" could actually get it right on what team he was going to play for then it would seem to be much more believable. The source of this information is obviously not Bourque or the Washington Capitals ... and it certainly can't be the Portland Pirates organization as they have no claim to Bourque anymore. The report comes off as simple "speculating" by an uninformed reporter.
