This is the craziest off season ever in the NHL!
Montreal resigns Kovalev.
Edmonton trades for Pronger (bad deal IMO)
Pittsburgh signs Gonchar
Calgary sign Amonte and McCarty
...
Just bizarre, all I can say is "HELLO PARITY!"
Bettman is going to come out of this looking like a saviour in the fans eyes.

Pronger to the Oil - Its a good deal for the Oilers no doubt, He's probably top 5 all arround Dman in the league... I don't understand how it can be a bad deal.
Now with the addition of Peca, Edmonton is looking very solid.
Edmonton is looking very very solid...
Now if those Bruins could sign Modano....

I don't agree with giving up Eric Brewer, I wouldn't have done that deal if I was Edmonton. However, I like the Peca trade.

It turns into a bad deal pretty quick if he misses 40-50 games a year like the last 2 years for 5 million and without Brewer and co. They definitely didn't rob St.Louis.

I believe it is a bad deal because Pronger is getting paid 5 mil a year, and he's missed a lot of time in the last 2 years. Granted he is a former Norris and Hart winner, but Brewer is one of the better young dmen out there and Woywitka is expected to be a solid defenceman as well. Not overly familiar with Lynch, but Woywitka and Brewer for Pronger is a hefty price IMO and not a great trade considering injury problems lately.
For the health of the NHL its a good trade, shows that all teams are on a level playing field, but for Edmonton, I'm not sold on it.

I think by comparison, Boston got Gonchar for less money and didn't have to trade 3 young players to get him.

It shows me and other fans that they want it this year. And I'm glad to see they aren't the only ones. I'm getting a bit scared of Philly to be honnest. I also hate the fact that everyone rumoured to be going to Pittsburgh has signed somewheres else. (Kovalev,Straka,Modano)

There are better "enforcers" than Roy out there. Hopefully the Pens will be smart and get another enforcer, somebody loco.

He can actually play a bit (had 10 goals for Tampa a couple years ago. But he can be undisciplined at times. I think Tortorella sent him to the dressing room a couple of times for taking dumb penalties.

I'm hoping the Penguins sign Tie Domi, who can fight with the best of them and who has proved he can play too when given the chance.
