Interesting note that in this morning's Acadie Nouvelle, it is mentioned that the return of Bernier, Saunders and Graham is more than probable and that, according to Nolan, all three are seriously interested in coming back to Moncton for the next season. According to Nolan, the chances of seeing Bourque are excellent. It all depends on the Washington Capitals. That makes no sense. If San Jose doesn't sign Bernier he goes back in the draft and can be drafted then signed by another team...Saunders is in the same situation. The only exception is if one or both are signed and sent back but that also makes little sense. I still don't see why or how Bernier would be back next year. What if ..... San Jose signs him and Irving cuts a deal where he pays 75% (or whatever it would take) of his salary to have him in Moncton. I realize San Jose would rather have him playing pro against men ... but maybe this might interest them.

He would cost them a high 6 figure signing bonus probably. The problem is, this is not good fior Bernier's development and his mindset. I would venture to guess that playing in the NHL is much higher on his priority list than the Memorial Cup.

Signing bonuses may change drastically under the new CBA ... if they don't control them then it just becomes another loophole for agents to rake in big bucks for their players ... and solves nothing. Maybe Irving will cover that bonus ... or a large portion of it. I agree that Bernier would likely rather play pro than another year (his 5th) of Jr. But maybe Irving has convinced him with an open wallet. I'm shocked to hear Nolan say Bernier will probably return ... as it doesn't make much sense unless they have enticed him with something worthwhile ... and San Jose is in agreement with it.

I think this is going to be a test. We'll see if this is a publicity stunt to sell season ticket or if Nolan is going to finally be the honest guy we've been waiting for so long.

Why would they need publicity to sell tickets, they are almost at 4,000 season tickets? The Memorial Cup is it's own publicity.

Maybe San Jose has told Bernier that they aren't offering him a contract ...

Maybe San Jose has told Bernier that they aren't offering him a contract ... Do you mean to say there's a chance that there are things going on behind the scenes that Nolan is aware of and the we aren't? Please Steve, say it ain't so! ;D

According to Nolan, the chances of seeing Bourque are excellent. It all depends on the Washington Capitals. We've always known that ... Bourque said he'd come to Moncton ... the only thing stopping him is if Washington offers him a contract and sticks him in the AHL.

Maybe this will dissapoint you, but 2 next to it are, as for behind, the fella with the Davis jersey and his kid who sit behind wont be there as he has told me several times he won't attend a cats game again as long as Schurman is there.

Yandle has never been challenged. The Prep game is the same level as Midget Triple A. He and Bourque will have a great deal of difficulty playing Major Junior.

Well, lets see. Prep play 25-30 games. NCAA 35-40 games. The Q, 75-90 games, travel, very physical.

I don't think Bourque is going to have a hard time in the Q...I watched him play a couple AHL games in Portland and he did very well. He was obviously much smaller then the rest of the players but he was hitting real hard and many were making runs at him and he was either taking it or so quick they were missing him. Oh yeah he has a hell of a shot...that nut didn't fall far from the tree. I just wish our NCAA pick would play for us...MAINEiacs have the rights to Greg Moore playing for the Universty of Maine.
Its going to be great seeing your team much more this year. I hope some of you make it to Lewiston to cheer your team on. If anyone does plan of visiting, go to our forum and many there will help with what our area has to offer and we usually meet before games for a beer or 2 or 12.
