I would have flipped Bourdon to one of the Quebec teams even if we were getting equal to this trade and said screw you CB not willing to ante up hope that Quebec team beats you in the playoffs and you realize what you could have had. We should have gotten more for him bottom line.
Thats not to say im not happy, im pleased but I wonder just out of curiousity what other teams were offering and imagine if we traded to another team who met Cape Breton in the playoffs. All wishing I guess.

The way I look at it is we pretty much standed Pat because we were doing fine without Bourdon. I don't expect our team to sink to much.

We still need at least another forward... we only have 12 now... if we get a few injuries... If we don't acquire another forward we might as well dress Herr up front and let him take a semi regular shift as a forward.

All wishing I guess. I'd like to think that this was the best offer available. We can basically guarantee that Lewiston was staying put (and I'd be a bit pissed if I was a MAINEiacs fan right now, btw) and Quebec could've theoretically tried to lowball Torchetti (like they lowballed Larue and Power a couple times). Like I said... happy to get something... just hoping that pick gets flipped at the draft... it makes sense that it would. Anyone else find it odd that we now have almost as many dmen (10) as forwards (12)?

I think Pianosi could be a really slick forward, but I wouldn't want to screw with his development as a puck-moving D.
I don't think it would kill us to dress any of the spare defensemen as a 12th forward in an emergency.
Edit: Just saw Sec21's post....yes, I agree Tolles might be decent up front. He seems to handle the puck well in open ice.

Be nice to get some toughness back in the lineup sometime this year...

Isn't Welton a forward. Oh wait, he just thinks he is.......
He sure is offensive, both on and off the ice.

I am very surprised that one of A Mac, Welton or Marqhardt weren't moved.

Maybe sending the pick back to CB at the draft for Brannon? I'd prefer Brannon over a 1st...mostly because of his age...he'd fit more into the 1989's already here than a 1991 or 1990. Here is my question... When we traded for Bourdon and only gave up Girard, Adam and draft picks we already knew the more to come later... (Marchand, Samson etc) So if there is in fact more coming at the draft (example returning the first for Brannon or others) then why isnt there some knowledge of it. I know the league doesnt announce the later details but we still knew what would happen with us last year so why is it so uncertain now? IMO if that pick doesnt go back for an established player we lost this trade. Barberio is good no doubt about it, but as many have posted, its the uncertainty factor in development, maybe he is already close to as good as he gets etc, while we knew Bourdon was the real deal.. Tough call.

Tough call. Val d'Or told the media what was coming afterward and they got rapped by the league for it. There will be rumours or rumblings about the draft but nothing issued officially by the teams.
