A good game by the cats this afternoon. No quit in either team. Quebec did not play like a team on their 3rd game in 3 nights. They have a beautiful transistion game with tape to tape passes. But it was not good enough this afternoon. Best hit I have seen Welton throw this year in the 3rd. It looked like they were using him as a winger on the PP with some success. Samson had another really good game and could easily have been a star. Our forecheck was giving the Remparts fits all night.
Cats seemed to be making one pass too many on most of their offensive chances. That resulted in some turnovers in the offensive zone but on the plus side the forwards were very quick in getting back to help the defence.
Good flow to the whole game. What a difference a real ref can make.

Riopel played great too...the team seem to really heat things up in the 3rd by being more aggressive, eventhough it was a well fought game all the way through

I thought Riopel was the cats best player, should have gotten a star.

I thought Riopel was the cats best player, should have gotten a star. That one bad rebound probably cost him a star. But he did play an excellent game.

Welton was asleep the first half of the game, but did wake up and play well the last half of the game...i was a bit suprised he got the 1st star. I felt Riopel deserved a star, he played a solid game and made some tough saves look easy. Samson impresses me every time i see him, there arent many players as good as him along the boards. Overall it was an entertaining game.

Welton picked up his play after the coach gave him an earful on the bench for being lazy and allowing the first Quebec goal.

I don't know if this has any merit but there were rumors about Que wanting A Mac. Not sure what was offered but I heard Patty really likes A Mac. What could we get potentially for him from Que?

I doubt we'll see Tessier or Sauve here unless we make a huge deal. After watching these 2 play last night I would say that we would be lucky to get one of those 2 for Bourdon straight up.If I were Sir Patrick it would take the moon for me to trade those guys. Take in consideration they were playing their 4th in 5 nights including an OT win friday and a late minute comeback in SJ on Saturday..... As opposed to several fans opinion I thought it was easy to tell Quebec was tired....they played a pretty conservative style and gave lots of ice to their 4th line.I think the cats would've been outmatched if it wasn't for the fatigue factor. Marquardt looked like he was playing his 5th games in 2 nights out there. Riopel was very solid. As for the A.MAc rumour I could see it happening, but I don't know for what return. Bezeau is a bum...very undisciplined and simply brutal defensively,I'm not suprised Victo let him go for cheap. Also I think Pellerin blew the call on Sheppard big time...it was easy to tell there was no elbow on the play,Pianosi simply had his head in his feet along the boards...I can see why Roy was so furious after the game.

Any deal involving Bourdon would be a huge deal. I can't see him going to Quebec unless Tessier is coming back the other way. Maybe if both Bourdon and A.Mac go then you have a blockbuster with Sauve and Tessier coming immediately with a guy like Aubut or Bezeau...then Petit at the draft. I think Patrick would trade for one but not both. How would the Sheppard hit not be a penality? Pianosi was locked up battling for the puck along the boards, Sheppard comes in full speed and drives his face into the boards...call it boarding, elbowing, charging...that HAS to be a penality, you can't just take a run at a player and nail him headfirst into the glass.

The only reason he had his face drivin into the boards was because he had his face in his skates looking at the puck with his head resting against the glass..Pianosi wasn't battling for the puck,he was freezing it along the boards...Sheppard just threw a hard hit...actually it was similar to Welton's nice clean hit in the corner except the guy wasn't standing still against the board. You can't say it was an elbow...it wasn't boarding because he was against the board and it wasn't charging because he didn't take more than 3 strides. So what do you call it.
If Quebec trades both Sauve and Tessier they are crazy.....even though they were tired they still looked like 2 of the best players on the ice for either team and they are only 16!!

If I recall...the hit on Pianosi was called as checking from behind.

You can't take a run at a guy that's defenseless against the boards and slam their face into the glass. Call it boarding or charging or whatever you want, but it's a penality, regardless of if it's a Cat player or Rempart player or whoever gets hit. The Remparts can afford to trade Tessier and Sauve because they can draft guys like that again in June, they just have to pull the "NCAA" thing like they do each year.

But if we are talking about the hit that was near the penalty box area... it was checking from behind, if we are talking about a diferent one, then elbowing it is! We could be talking 2 dif. hits here..
