Not only should Salvis be considered for Captain, but with his recent performance in Chowder Cup tryout, the team should seriously give him a try on a top scoring line. I know he is an excellent defensive forward, probably the best we have now that Betournay is gone, but he deserves a chance on a top line. Anyone agree?

Well I don't think just because he dominated a tournament full of players that will never play in the Q, that he should now be on the first line for the Cats. However I do believe he could put up some pretty decent numbers playing with two offensive players on the same line. Right now it looks like we have a clear cut top 5 forwards on this team: Bernier, Graham, Karsums, Bartulis, and Pineault. That last spot on the top two lines is up for grabs and if Salvis is kept as a 20 year old, which I think he should be, then he could be in the running along with Goulet.

So you assume that three players( Goulet,Bartulis and Pineault) of which you only saw one play 4th line at 17 should be on your top two lines ;D ;D Salvis is a 3rd line man stamped all over himand he is not going to become a top-2 line forward suddenly at 20, if the WCs keep him

Well I've never seen Bartulis play so I can't comment there
I can't remeber Goulet from the Remparts that well
But I did see Pineault play with BC ( I attented the Beanpot* tournament in Boston on Feb 9 2004) He had limited ice time on a 19 yr ols ladden team , but he has talent no doubt. Deffinetly a top 4 player, he should be a playmaker on the 1st line or the go to guy on the 2nd
*The Beanpot is a Tournament of the major Universities in New England

How did the Titan do in the playoff last year? They took a Rimouski type dive and missed them on purpose to get the 1st pick overall, but the league went straight up LGM's hershey highway and changed the rules mid season. Had LGM known he wouldn't of gotten the 1st they would off made the post season,. so he says.

Did I say they were gonna be superstars? No I did not, unlike you with Artemiev, Boryshenko, and Hawkins Plus I didn't even say Goulet was gonna on the top two lines, I said he was gonna be in the running. I'm also willing to bet you've never seen Ryan Salvis in an offensive role. He does quite well when put in those situations. Here's another interesting fact: In the 2002-2003 season Mathieu Betornay had 40 pts in 72 games. Last season Ryan Salvis had 34 pts in 61 games which would add up to 40 pts in 72 games. Now I'm not saying he's gonna put up Betournay type numbers from last year, but put him on a scoring line and you could very well see 50 pts from him. I think he's underrated by many people around the league, including mr.cape breton titan. Guess you could say I'm starting the "keep Ryan Salvis as a 20" campaign right now!!!

chsb/cbtital putting his foot in his mouth again...what's new?
Salvis definitely has the skill to play on the top 2 lines and put up 55-60 points.
It's funny that he can't see Salvis in a more offensive role putting up better numbers, after all it's not like Hodgson and Laplante went from the 3rd line in 02-03 to the 1st or 2nd last year and their numbers improved accordingly. Salvis also won the scoring title in MAAA at 16 if I'm not mistaken...
That being said I prefer Salvis with Gaudet and Bergeron to form a 3rd line that plays head to head with all the top lines in the league. I want Bartulis to get a shot with Karsums and Graham and Pineau and Goulet with Bernier...if those combos don't work then give Salvis a shot on those lines.

Yes he did win the scoring in MAAA at 16. I agree with having Goulet in the top 6 to begin with because he is only 18 and could have a breakout year playing with two skilled offensive forwards. A la J-F Cyr, as some people have said. Another good thing about keeping Salvis is when Karsums and Bartulis go away for the World Juniors Group 1, as I expect they will, Ryan will be ready to step right into the top two lines and contribute.
