I read on radoter.com this morning that the CHL may change the rule on the number of overagers in the league next season. And it is all because of the possible NHL lockout. The CHL may be allowing 5 20's per team next season.
To translate: I heard from a good source 'a father of a ex-Olympiques' that if there's a NHL lockout next season, Pittsburgh would return Maxime Talbot to juniors and trade him and Dom D'Amour to Rimouski. What do you think? If there's a lockout, should junior teams be allowed 5 overagers?

This would be fantastic if it were in fact true.

While its great for the fans this season ... it also stunts the development of rookie players that not only will lose a chance to stick with the team ... but also lose out on key icetime. Next year and the year after when things revert back to normal we'll be worse off.
From the Wildcats standpoint ... next year is our main focus and so this year we need to develop some of our younger players so that they contribute significantly next year.
If we weren't the Mem Cup hosts next year (and we aren't ... yet) then I'd say its great as it would make us even stronger this year in a year that we could be a true championship contender if we decided we wanted to.
But looking at it now ... it would be another bush league move by the Q to change the rules after some teams have already made moves based on decisions that were made following an old set of rules. Would we have traded Gagne and DesRuisseaux if we could keep five 20's ? Rule changes like that need to be implemented prior to the first trading period of the season. But the Q has shown with the draft lottery that they don't really care about what is fair to everybody.

I was reading your post and thinking about the draft lottery and wondering about fairness but you caught it in your last sentence. While 5 20s makes no sense, we seen plenty of dumb things from the Q.

Don't believe anything on radoter. Someone actually posted their season predictions there yesterday and had PEI in 2nd place in the division.

i read this as well a while ago i think on rds, if you notice the post it says chl not the q, and it's only 2 more overagers so a couple of your 16 year olds go back to midget for another year and we get to see a couple of more great players on all the teams. i would love getting d'amour and talbot back it would be great for the league and for our team, and who's to say your 16 year olds you send back won't benefit more playing midget where they're one of the top players on their team instead of being in the stands for half the year and getting a few shifts a game when they do dress.

As a Halifax fan, I wouldn't be too found of this. The 4th, 5th, and 6th 20 year olds on the Mooseheads depth chart are Sebastien Nolet, Evan Jones, and Colby MacIntyre,

I'd like to see it to, but not after Moncton has already traded Desruissaux and Gagne away. If they were going to do this it should have been approved prior to the draft.
