WHAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT?Sanford not picked? The size factor I guess..... but Theo Fleury was taken, he's smaller (plus has addiction problems), but he's proven I guess...and not a D

I wouldn't pay 60 bucks to see him skate around like a fruit after a goal... and NO i am not still bitter... hehe.. But ... wouldn't you pay $60 to see him get nailed by some goon after he skated around "like a fruit" after a goal ? That was the greatest goal celebration I have ever seen. I believe after that goal Sanford said "I hate Charlottetown" to the media ... so you can hate him for that too.

Good thinking.. yes I would pay the 60 to see the goon show. but it is ok if she hates Charlottetown. I am not a big fan either some days. It is poorly laid out and no one here can drive worth a damn.

The Charlottetown thing was just something to remind the Bathurst fans that they hate Sanford too ... apparently he said "I hate Bathurst" once 3 years ago and the people of Bathurst have never forgiven him for that .... chsb will come tell us all about it at any moment. The Bathurst fans of course took it all out of context and won't let their small minds recognize that .... and waste their energy hating a person they don't even know.

I am not a fan of Bathurst either to be honest with you. Been a few years since I took my show to town but I spent an awful long weekend there once.

The size factor I guess..... but Theo Fleury was taken, he's smaller (plus has addiction problems), but he's proven I guess...and not a D That says a lot about how high Sanford's star has risen. I know everyone's gonna be on here to tell me how good he is, but the fact is it doesn't look like anyone wants him. He's made it clear that he wants to play anywhere but Moncton, but we haven't heard one word about other teams lining up to get him. He was given a walk-on with Vancouver last year and wasn't there long enough to unpack. The word from the camp was "attitude". That word creeps up quite a bit whenever he's being discussed. Neither the NHL or WHA have drafted him. I admit that I've never been a fan of his. I've seen him make some absolutely astounding plays, block shots, score great goals......but I've seen him blow as many or more big plays. I've seen too many passes through the crease picked off and put in our net. He's good enough for the "Q", no question, but I can't see him going much farther. Small stature and big attitude don't open too many doors in the sporting world. However, if you're good enough you can still make the big show.....look at Fleury.

ahem....europe....Sanford is no Hayley Wickenheiser but I am sure that a team across the Atlantic would pay him to play hockey.

Lou and I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Titan uniform this year. And I think there might be others. But not a lot!!

Its no wonder he wants to leave Moncton ... he puts up great numbers each year ... and gets nothing but ridicule from the so called fans. I'd probably want to leave to after almost 4 years of that. I appreciate everything James Sanford has done as a Wildcat ... he has made mistakes ... but his contributions far outweigh the negatives. To even think they are equal ("but I've seen him blow as many or more big plays") shows that you lack the needed hockey knowledge to recognize a star player. I wonder what the game looks like from your eyes ?

I wonder what the game looks like from your eyes ? As I said, there'd be many able to tell me how good he is. It doesn't matter who the athlete is, he's going to have those that love him and those that aren't so enamored. There's nowhere on earth he can go where everyone will love him. I've been a Cat's fan for quite a few years now, but maybe since I'm not originally from Moncton I don't see with the same 'homer' eyes. I don't see that his game has improved over the last three years. He was good when he got here and has stayed at the same level. He makes the same mistakes as he did when he was 17. That may be a coaching problem too, but most defensemen already know how to use the boards to clear the zone. James clears the zone through his own crease, that blue area with the goaltender in it. The other teams have come to expect it and he gets picked off regularly. You can defend him all day long SteveUL, attack me and criticize anyone who doesn't see him as the next coming, but when the sun sets he's still undrafted by any pro league in North America. Even those with huge attitudes get drafted if they have the talent. Look at Paul Coffey and Theo Fleury for a couple of examples It was mentioned that he could probably land a team in Europe. He may, but how many of the serious NHL prospects have gone to Europe and come back to the NHL? Most of the players who wind up in Europe are those who couldn't stick with an AHL team. You say I don't have the hockey knowledge to recognize a star player. Obviously I'm in good company.

You crap on him for the 1 or 2 mistakes he makes in a game but fail to mention the 4-5 great plays that about 1% of QMJHL players can make. I don't really care about NHL and AHL because often it has more to do with size than skill...Sanford is 3 times the player Morgan Warren ever was yet Warren played 1 or 2 years in the AHL because he had some skill and size. At the Q level Sanford is an impact player, something you can only say about 15-20 players in the league.
