He is clearly going to be the starter ... we aren't trying to contend ... he had 30ish starts last year and so it is logical that he will get more starts this year ... which would take him over the 35 mark ... to 40 or 45 probably ... making him the #1. Tardif could be your starter too in the same situation ... but I think our teams have differing goals this season. So if he goes 0-15 to start the season, you're going to stick with him? Would an 0-15 start be all his fault ? You don't draft a kid in the 1st rd and then abandon him when he hits a rough patch ... you work with him. Riopel has already proven that he can play at this level ... this year will be more developing for him ... next year will be a possible challenge for another Q title.

He's used to the Bathurst system...throw a rookie goalie into the fire as #1, then throw him under the bus when he predictably fails and use him as the scapegoat for an underachieving season.

Is it just me or does he remind you of Bernier from his video's. He big and stable and smart with the puck, but not fast but not slow either. Strange cause thats just how Peter Nevin describle him on the T&T this morning!

You could not have nailed that more correctly.

That type of player doesn't play like a 16yr old when he's 16.

How often does that happen?.......Last year they gave 18 year old Gougeon a shot after he played an outstanding as a starter in Jr. A........funny how it's really never as bad as you make it out to be.....
