I like this pick, although I thought it would be McAusland, he may be dreafted in later rounds due to the whole NCAA thing, also the Cats may make a deal to get him but, Brown is a sold player for sure.

Brown weighing hockey options
Talented forward ranked high for today’s QMJHL draft
BY MATT VENO The Truro Daily News
Truro Daily News
TRURO – It’s decision time for Matt Brown.
The 16-year-old Bible Hill resident is ranked fourth by Central Scouting and fifth by the International Scouting Service heading into today’s Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft in Drummondville, Que.
But Brown has to decide if he actually wants to play in the Q.
“Right now it’s up in the air,” said the polite 5-foot-10, 162 pound forward. “But I definitely think it would be fun and it would be good for development and everything.”
The Grade 10 student has several options, thanks to a stellar Nova Scotia Major Midget AAA Hockey League season with Pictou County in which he sniped 24 goals and added 24 assists in 35 games.
He can attend Northwood School, a prep school in Lake Placid, N.Y. He can also stay home and play junior A hockey (he’s had talks with Bearcats general manager Shawn Evans) and can even play another midget season.
But Brown said the latter is unlikely.
“(Weeks head coach) Dave (Ritcey) said it was time for me to move on,” he said. “He’s definitely been a big supporter of mine and has given me a lot of advice.”
Brown has talked with several Quebec league teams and said Rimouski, Quebec and Halifax piqued his interest most. Halifax could be a likely candidate as it holds the draft’s fifth selection. Rimouski traded their first round pick to Drummondville and Quebec picks 10th.
Wherever he goes Ritcey said the team will be getting a quality player on and off the ice.
“He’s a great kid,” he said. “He comes from a great family and carries himself like a professional. Anything you ask him to do he does it and more.”
Those qualities, along with his strong work ethic, excellent vision and a good all-around game are reasons he’s ranked so high in the draft, which flatters Brown.
“I’m really excited about that,” he said. “It’s an honour to be ranked that high.”
Ritcey said Brown was a valuable member of his team this past season.
“He would get on the ice and the team would just jump on his back,” he said. “Not many 15-year-olds can come into the league and be that type of hockey player.”
Brown said where he ends up going will depend largely on the educational options that come with it.
“There’s always stuff after hockey,” he said. “You’re not going to play forever so I want to make sure the rest of my life is secure too.”

That is exactly who I would compare him to, he has tons of offence and plays a gritty game as well.

Is it safe to assume he has committed to reporting? Be a shame to lose him to NCAA, or a year of Q development while he plays prep or Junior A while making up his mind.

You guys (Cats) should be ashamed of yourselves for manipulating the draft and participating in the NCAA bluff, sad day for the repution of the Irving family, win at any cost, even deception.......

They should have followed Halifax's lead and reached into the 3rd round for a player.

I will take good scouting and being above board and the results that come with that over manipulation, deception and poor sportsmanship, looks like Fynn will fit in nicely with RKI.

While I am no fan of the whole draft circus and all the related bluffing, if everyone else is playing by a set of informal "rules", you do what you need to do.
