After I read the article in today's T&T, I thought I would do a bit of research on past draft for the Wildcats. I think any player drafted in the first 6 rounds would have a decent chance of making the team sometimes in their career.
Here are our picks from the first 6 rounds since 2000:
2006 4 picks 3rd Cameron 5th Pianosi 6th Brenton and Lamoureux
2005 3 picks 1st Riopel 4th Lessard and Labelle
2004 8 picks 1st Welcher 2nd Marchand 3rd Chabot and Emmanuele 4th Prosper 5th Bodnarchuck and Demers 6th Cote-Valliere
2003 6 picks 1st Blanchard 2nd Samson 4th Bernier 5th Pelletier, Tanguay and Parenteau
2002 3 picks 1st Pineault 5th Sampson 6th Ouimet
2001 10 picks (WOW) 1st Bernier and Crawford 2nd Gagne 3rd Graham and Glode 4th Pelham and Murnaghan 5th Saunders and Favreau 6th Salvis
2000 4 picks 3rd Parenteau 4th Verpaelst and Davis 5th Lavoie
Most of these players have played at lease one game in the Q.
2006 Lamoureux hasn't (yet) 2004 Cote-Valliere has suited up as a backup 2003 Parenteau has not played to my knowledge 2000 I'm unsure about Verpaelst and Lavoie (I just started buying season tickets in 2002 and can't recall these players).
That would be a high percentage of the top 6 round picks having played in the Q (87% if you exclude the players listed above).

In terms of drafting, the Cats have usually done among the better teams(top 1/3 anyways). Not too many early round busts and a few nice late rounders like Gaudet Adam and maybe Lepage.
The only draft I didn't really like was the year they took Pineault(unnecessary risk) and Sampson.

After digging a bit more, I found that both Lavoie and Verpaelst also played in the Q.
This brings the percentage to 92% of our first 6 round picks since 2000 that have played at least one game in the Q.
This could increase to 95% if Lamoureux ends up playing (or even 98% if you consider Cote-Valliere dressing up as a back up).

Parenteau played with the Cats, and later Chicoutimi and Sherbrooke in the Q, played for Canada at the WJHC, and has been a long time AHLer, I believe he may have had a cup of coffee in the NHL as well. He was what went the other way in the Caron trade.
Lavoie played a couple of seasons with the Cats, and also played for Chicoutimi ... Verspaelst was also a fringe Q leaguer who played a few games with Chicoutimi.
Edit - my bad - that was P-A Parenteau who we drafted in 2000 ... Guillaume Parenteau was drafted later and was a bust.

I am still amazed with the 2001 draft. WOW!
The 2004 is not bad at all either.

The 2001 draft is a main reason why the team was in the finals in 2004.
Lavoie had a muscle imbalance problem which hindered his development early on... but he was a decent player in his time in the Q. I believe he scored a key goal in the Sags upset of the Eagles in 2004.
Verpaelst did play a game or two here... but it was after the Cats reacquired his rights from the Sags in 2003... like jimmy said, basically a fringe player.
Of all players metioned in this thread, the one I THOUGHT would progess nicely but in the end did not was Nicolas Pelletier.

Pelletier seemed to have a nice base of skill, but seemed to lack grit and work ethic so Larue never warmed up to him.
