Curious to know if anyone thinks that we may see a FA or two from outside the zone that are property of the NYI now that Nolan is in NY and Flynn is here. Kind of like Doug Mclean ( I believe) and some of his players who landed in Moncton.

Curious to know if anyone thinks that we may see a FA or two from outside the zone that are property of the NYI now that Nolan is in NY and Flynn is here. Kind of like Doug Mclean ( I believe) and some of his players who landed in Moncton. Only one player from Columbus landed in Moncton due to the Columbus influence ... and we had to trade to get him ... Phil Dupuis. Pineault had no other viable options once he left NCAA. Marquardt was drafted out of Moncton. Any "FA" that is NHL drafted is very likely owned by a CHL team somewhere ... so waivers would have to be cleared and I doubt many teams would give up the rights to an NHL drafted player that suddenly wants to come to the CHL. Its great to have a relationship with an NHL team ... especially when it comes to getting Euros ... 18 and 19 yr olds. You can utilize the NHL team's Euro scouting info ... and they can assign him to Moncton if he is not pro ready. Nolan and Snow know what kind of coaching he will get in Moncton and how he will be developed for their system. Its a no-brainer for the Islanders ... draft a Euro and send him to Moncton for a few years ... let Flynn mold him. Its almost like having another minor pro team.
