Well another coach come and gone but one i did notice.... simon danis pepin is draft by the blackhawks and torchetti now works for them... hmmm maybe for torchetti going there hell give us denis pepin...... I think this season will be filled with more surprise.... But with torchetti now in chicago i think the odds of maybe bring pepin in might be a bit greater cause torchetti could say q can help his hockey career more then ncaa... but this is just a wild theory i had if anybody has suggestions let me hear it. Interesting point. The new guy should be able to have some influence on the NCAA-leaning guys. How much remains to be seen. According to the release, Torch will ensure the transition goes smoothly. I have an idea that the ass't coaches may remain. Martino seems to be a quality assistant.

On News 91.9 they had said that Danny Flynn is in the running too?? I think it would be a good plan but why would he leave the NHL to come back to Moncton?

Good point bringing up the connection and an interesting thought but based on the Hockey's Future article it sounds like Danis-Pepin had a very successful season in Maine with next season looking even better so I highly doubt the Q is even a small consideration for him. Here is the Hockey's Future blurp on him: 16. (18) Simon Danis-Pepin, D - Maine Black Bears (HE)Height: 6'7, Weight: 217 lbs., Age: 19 Acquired: 2nd round, 61st overall, 2006 Danis-Pepin, a massive sophomore blue liner, had an excellent developmental season this past year for Frozen Four finalists, the Maine Black Bears. He did not garner much playing time in his rookie campaign, but did not look out of place playing with Maine this year, serving as the youngest player on the team, despite being a sophomore. He began to utilize his offensive instincts more efficiently, making safe plays with the puck. A good skater for his size, with strong defensive-zone coverage and a willingness to use his size and reach advantage to contain the opposition in his own end, Danis-Pepin is on the right track developmentally. With a couple of departures from the Maine blue line, Danis-Pepin will be given a larger role next season.

A-N this morning states that several sources have confirmed that Danny Flynn is the man. Flynn is quoted, saying he can't say anything, but expects an announcement in the next couple of days.
Excellent choice ... he was probably the #1 candidate last year had he wanted the job. Our PP should take on a new life ...
And Hockeyscene.com can just recycle last year's article!

Danny Flynn was also mentioned in the T&T this morning. I would think that he would be the first choice, provided he is willing to come! Hodge indicated that he wanted to return to junior hockey.

Flynn is a good coach, but he will have his hands full to have a mid pack PP. He doesn't have Yandle MacDonald Karsums Dupuis Goulet out there any more.

FLYNN IS IN! Moncton Wildcats name Danny Flynn Head Coach May 16, 2007
Moncton, NB ---- The Moncton Wildcats today announced the return of Danny Flynn to the organization, as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations.
“I am very pleased to confirm that Danny Flynn has agreed to become our head coach,” Robert Irving said in making the announcement. “Danny Flynn is a proven winner who knows our organization and is committed to giving our fans another championship,” Mr. Irving said.
Flynn returns to Moncton after spending the past season as an assistant coach to Ted Nolan with the New York Islanders, who Sports Illustrated picked to finish dead last in the NHL, but a team that finished 16th overall and made the playoffs for the first time in three seasons. “I am thrilled to be rejoining the best run major junior organization in Canada and working hard to fulfill the dream of winning the Memorial Cup,” Flynn said. “I enjoyed my year in New York and thank that organization for everything,” Flynn said. “It was a great hockey experience and I am certainly a better coach because of it, however, I am an Atlantic Canadian at heart and coming home to coach the Moncton Wildcats is very special for me and my family,” Flynn said.
Flynn has been a mainstay on Nolan's coaching staff going back to their days with the Sault. Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the early 1990s. Together, Nolan and Flynn won three straight OHL championships and a Memorial Cup title with the Greyhounds. Before rejoining Nolan in Moncton for the 2005-2006season, where they led the team to the President’s Cup, Flynn was the head coach for St. Francis Xavier University for ten years where he rebuilt the program culminating in three national final appearances in four years and winning the University’s first national championship in 2004. In total, he recorded 177 career wins at St. F X making him the all-time winningest coach in the schools history and 17th overall in CIAU history.
Flynn also had the opportunity to coach internationally with Team Canada on five occasions, winning gold three times at the 1992 Under-18 Championship; the 1994 World Junior Championship; and the 1998 Spangler Cup. He also won bronze at the 1995 World Championship, a year which NHL players were not available.
Flynn worked for the Los Angeles Kings from 2000 to 2005 as a part-time scout, covering the college and junior ranks in Atlantic Canada. Flynn graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a degree in Physical Education in 1979 and was a member of the school's 1978 Championship team.
The Dartmouth, NS native and his wife Elaine have two sons, Brad and Andrew.

This is probably the best move the Cats could make IMO. He has the experience behind the bench in the University, Q and NHL and he wants to stay in the Maritimes. He could be here for a while. This is a very good anouncement IMO.

It doesn't mention anything, but I assume he also takes the position of "director of hockey operation" (aka GM)
