Also will be hosted the 2009 tournament making them back-to-back hosts www.tsn.ca/canadian_hockey/news_story/?ID=207357&hubname=I would really like to see Moncton place a bid for the 2010 edition. The Memorial Cup was a huge success last season and it was also the 1st tournament for all the activities to be held under the same roof. Usually the tournament is held in two cities with the Group A games played at the host while Group B games are played at a near arena. When Halifax was host a few years back, Cape Breton had the B games. And if Moncton were awarded the tournament, Saint John could easily help out with the B games being only 1.5 hours away. Thoughts?

If I do recall correctly, Halifax had to press pretty hard to get that tournament... and they are a largeer population base with a larger arena.
Not saying it COULDN'T come here... I mean, it went to Grand Forks South Dakota... but I have this feeling IIHF officials will press for a Canadian host to be in a larger market with a larger rink capacity and more amenities... especially when the tournament does so much better here than in most other nations.

If that tournament ever went to Moncton with its 6000-seat crawlspace as the main venue, imagine how expensive tickets would have to be.
Ottawa beat out Calgary/Edmonton, Montreal, Saskatoon/Regina and Toronto for the 2009 tournament... places like Moncton and Saint John can't compete with that, the best we can hope for is to latch on to a Halifax bid so we can watch the Kazakhs and Latvians.
