Moncton Gagnon Beavers traded a pair of veteran goaltenders they never expect to see in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League and added some toughness yesterday.
Beavers dealt the rights to Jhase Sniderman and Travis Fullerton to the Yarmouth Mariners in exchange for rugged right winger Jason Lambe, the rights to Moncton Wildcats winger Murdock MacLellan and a second round selection in the upcoming draft.

I heard there was a deal sending Sniderman to Bathurst for a 3rd round pick.

I heard there was a deal sending Sniderman to Bathurst for a 3rd round pick. If true, it will be hilarious to see btitan and others pull a 180 and suddenly claim he is among the best in the league ....

As much as I like Sniderman and think that he can be a solid (not elite) Q starter I think if that is an offer that is on the table we take it. Riopel learned a lot from him last season I am sure. But Riopel is the starter this season unless something really drastic happens. I think we need to find an 18 or 19 year old that will play back up. It will not be easy but that seems to be the only viable way that I can see. Plus I think getting a third is a great return on a FA.

I agree - even if we can only get a 5th, I think we should move Sniderman if there is any offer out there.

This trade is really kind of pointless ... the Beavers pick up a fringe player to provide some toughness, and a guy who is unlikely to play for them (MacLellan, though he may enter the picture in 2008/09) in exchange for two guys not likely to ever play for them ... what is in it for Yarmouth?

Sniderman may go there next season if we can't find a team for him. It will be tough to find a team that wants a 20 yr old goalie who is not a Duschense caliber. Plus from what I heard is that the owner of Yarmouth has deep pockets so it could come down to Sniderman or Fullerton (Unlikely) making the most money.

Riopel is so much like Crawford, what we need is the guy who backed Crawford up. Free agent Ryan Papaouiano(?sp) I don't even know if his name was Ryan but he was a pretty solid back up.

I heard there was a deal sending Sniderman to Bathurst for a 3rd round pick. If Bathurst wants an average 20 yr old goaltender they can keep Miller ... that would be a pointless deal from their standpoint. They need somebody that will share the load with Tardif ... 50/50 or even slanted in Tardif's favour if he shows improvement. Why waste a 20 yr old spot in what they are hoping is a contending year ... on a mediocre goaltender that would only get half the starts. If you keep a 20 yr old goaltender ... he should be exceptional ... and he should get the bulk of the work ... 70% or better.

Bathurst will have a decent enough team but they aren't in "contender" status. They are probably good enough for 3rd in the Division. That's not contender quality.

Yarmouth owner has pretty deep Pockets. Steve Kasper is the head coach as well for the Junior A Franchise. Although i would love to see Fullerton there i doubt even $ will bring him there. Yarmouth has set there goal to go to the RBC so it will be interesting to see what takes place.
