What do you guys think we are going to do for a backup goalie next season?
I would peg our options as being Tyler Bolduc, an FA, a new draft pick, or the return of Sniderman to share the #1 role with Riopel.
If we go with a rookie, either Bolduc or a pick, that leaves us pretty inexperienced in net ... a second year Riopel with a rookie backup. Not sure if Bolduc is even a feasible solution, maybe we use a high pick this year to draft our goalie of the future and make him be the backup at 16 ... if not we can probably snare a 17 year old goalie in the 6th or 7th round who would be as good as Bolduc and a year younger.
With Riopel seemingly entrenched as the starter for the enxt two years, it will be hard to attract a quality FA ... so if we go this route, we are probably looking at a 19 year old Jr A type. Still might me worthwhile ...
As previously discussed, bringing back Sniderman would not be great use of our overage spots. Riopel should be able to handle a heavier work load this year ...
Personally, I think we wait until next year to spend a high pick on a goalie of the future. Pick up a 17 year old in the 6th round, bring in an FA or two who have had success in Jr A, and let them as well as Bolduc battle for the backup job in camp.

I think there are a few guys around that could be a good fit...Allen in Freddy, Rafuse who played with Truro I think or Coolling(18) who was with the MAAA Flyers and really came on strong the 2nd half, he is big(6'3") and a pretty good athlete.

Cooling will likely be with the Beavers this season but wouldnt be surprised if the Wildcats gave him a look. I remember reading an article somewhere this year about the advantages of having local players on your team; brings in more fans with family and friends.
I've liked Rafuse ever since he took over for Truro. His stock has definitely risen since the start of the year. Helped the Bearcats win the MJAHL title and was very calm in nets as a 16 year old playing against guys 4 years older then him.
Allen is very quick. I find he's similar to Riopel, small and very athletic. At a Fredericton/Charlottetown earlier this year, I overheard a scout say "This guy will bring the puckbunnies to the games. Everyone calls him 'pretty boy". Although that has nothing to do with hockey, I had a good chuckle over it.
