What are everyones thoughts on these two and the trading period?
Did moncton not try to move them or did no one want them?
Was the price too high?
It must be somewhat tough for the two of them to think that as champions last year they are not wanted this year.

I don't think it is an issue of them not being wanted. It is more that Moncton has proven to have a very good hockey team so your GM/coach probably didn't want to tear apart the whole team.
You already lost Bourdon & Samson but added Lincourt & Barberio. Obviously a loss in talent but hopefully (for you guys) only a small step back in results.
And also losing Welton or Macdonald probably would have been too much of a loss for your defense to handle unless you were doing a complete firesale and the return probably wouldn't have been worth it keeping in mind that they are 20 yr olds and Contending teams had limited spots.
IMO it was a good move to keep them. You traded your most marketable asset for a terrific young defenseman plus (draft pick/Brannon) and now get to see if this team can continue to play way better than everyone expected.

The Cats wanted to help their future without sacrificing this year, that's why Bourdon was the only deal(they proved they could win without him) made to sell and Lincourt and Goyens were added for picks. Doesn't appear they tried hard to move Marquardt Welton MacDonald or Gaudet. The big positive out of all that is those guys, especially Gaudet in his 4th year will get to finish on a pretty strong team.

if we would of traded these guys it would of been standings suicide. I'm sure teams wanted these guys but price too high for a reason, torch probably didn't want to trade them but if someone was willing to pay the big price for them then they would of been dealt. I am quite sure the two of them are more than happy to remain a wildcat. Why wouldn't they!

Overall, if you delete the impact of Bourdon(playing 13 games) and Samson(38 games)...then add in Lincourt Barberio Goyens...plus the added impact of Eagles and Mangan full time(both only played 1/2 the 1st half) and rookies contributing more(mostly Labelle Lessard Pianosi)...on paper the Cats should do about as well the rest of the way.

I think that the Wildcats, having a greater knowledge of hockey than you or I, value them much more than to trade them for an insufficient offer.
