Welcome, and thank you for participating in the 2006-07 Maritime Message Board QMJHL Hockey Pool. This post is here to run through the structure and guidelines of the pool in itself.
Participants
- There are 24 confirmed participants. These 24 participants will be divided randomly into two groups of 12, which will be designated as the "Eastern Division" and the "Western Division" (this IS a Q pool, afterall ).
Rosters
- Each roster will contain 14 players, consisting of nine forwards, four defensemen and one goaltender.
Drafting and Roster Moves
- As there are two groups of participants, two separate drafts will be held.
- The draft for all "Eastern Division" participants will be held on Monday, September 11th. The draft will start at 7PM.
- The draft for all "Western Division" participants will be held on Wednesday, September 13th. The draft will start at 7PM.
- Both drafts will be held on a chat room on this board. The chat will open 15 minutes before draft time. Pool participants are highly encouraged to move through the draft as quickly as possible as I am told that the chat feature will be obtrusive to the rest of this board in general.
- If you are unable to attend the draft for whatever reason, plase submit a draft list to me on or before your designated draft day. Your list should basically be a rank of all players you would potentially desire to draft, regardless of position. That is, do NOT send a list of JUST forwards, JUST defensemen and JUST goalies... send ONE list covering ALL players of ALL positions. I would recommend a list of around 150 players. Should all of the players on your list be spoken for before the end of the draft, the draft will carry on with your position being skipped. Afterwards, you may select any remaining players to fill in any empty slots on your roster.
- Draft lists are to be emailed to me at will17@rogers.com
- There will be no trades allowed. my reasoning behind this is a) it encourages smarter drafting, b) the league is not perpetual (i.e. it doesn't carry on from one season to the next) and c) the last pool I organized did allow for trades and only one trade was completed all season.
- Each participant will be limited to five roster moves all season. Once again, this is put into place to encourage smarter drafting. Once a player is dropped, he becomes a "free agent" 24 hours after the transaction is announced, barring any disputes over the roster move in itself, and after such time can be acquired by any team in that division, so long as that person is willing to drop one of their exsisting players of the same position.
- If any person has an issue with a roster move within their own division, they must address that issue within a post on this board within 24 hours of the announcement of that roster move. If it is felt that the concern of the participant is valid, the roster move will be put to a vote via a poll on this board. Only the votes of participants within that specific division will be counted. Majority (50.1% or more) will rule as to what the final outcome of the roster move will be. The voting will be cats within a specific 24 hour period. No changes will be made to the roster of the participant in question until the dispute is finalized. Any votes placed before or after that time will not be counted. All decisions stemming from polls are final.
Statistical Information
Stats will be calculated in the following manner:
Skaters:
Goal - 1pt.
Assist- 1pt.
Goalies:
Win - 2 pts.
OT Loss - 1pt.
SO Loss - 1pt.
Shutout - 2 pts.
Goal - 2pts. (the "Antoine Lafleur" rule) ;D
Assist - 1 pt.
- Statistics will be updated every Monday evening. If I cannot update the stats for any reason, I will post a warning on this board ahead of time.
- Any other questions, concerns or comments can be sent to me via PM or by posting them on this board.
Enjoy the season!
