I believe that Blanchard received a injury very early camp and is not being pushed to hard by Nolan at this point.Nothing to really worry about i guess ,but not taking any chances. Always better to be safe then sorry if indeed he is are no 1 starter. First I've heard of an injury, but if true then that would explain a lot. I still am wondering (as another poster pointed out) if he will indeed end up being our #1 guy in the nets this season when all is said and done.

Who else do we have? Still think if we would of played him more instead of Corey after Xmas he would of been a no 1 this year. ( after knowing we were not going to deal for memorial cup contenders) You can,t play a total of mayby what 15 games and expected to be a super no 1 goalie.Dont blame the kid he was available every game, but ice time was limited. I am sure that coach Nolan will take a very good look at this, and if needed will take proper step to insure that we do have the best to go all the way. Go Cats Go

Go Cats Go Blanchard played the equivalent of 21 1/2 games last year and had the best stats in the league. He did play more in the 2nd half because Crawford got a 5 game vacation for his actions in Halifax. That’s pretty normal for most 17 year olds. He should be ready for the #1 job, that’s the normal evolution of things. Who’s blaming the kid? Most people in Moncton who have seen him play think that he can be one of the best in the Q this year.

Sorry Billy did not mean to put it in a way that would blame the kid. Just my personal thoughts if he was not to be the #1. I have seen him play and yes he could be exactly the one we need. I hope so i really do. Only time will tell. Have not seen him play this year so I can.t predict how he will do.

I realize we have to be patient as pre-season is being used to gauge what holes need to be filled in the future and also the time is being used to bring the players on board as far as Nolan's system is involved.
There have been some nice surprises among the free agents but something seems missing, (not the players as hopefully there will be more coming through trades) it's the hype, it seems to be mediocre at best.
This year seems less exciting than last year aside from the fact we are guaranteed a spot in the MC, the buzz around Nolan seems to have fizzled a bit. We're stocking our team with Jr A players (possible diamonds in the ruff) but nothing truly exciting in that.
We need a big pick me up and fast as alot of talk is how we don't have the team to compete in the MC yet and not incredible amount of assets to acquire those needed assets. We the fans are obviously not privy to the building plans of management and hopefully they have some amazing things in-store for us but aside from Nolan himself, this year has been a let down from a Hype/PR point of view.
I want to hear from Nolan and Irving that we are going to have a dominant team this year, that the league had better watch out. That we're in for a treat not that we picked up player x off of waivers or through free agency and expect to have a team made of players nobody else wanted or could care less about.
To use an anology we should be ABC's Extreme Home Make-over not TLC's While you were out, we have to inject excitment, this is like watching paint dry.

Here,s something to throw out there.I think it would have been nice to see Nolan get a year in the Q with the Wildcats before this years MC so he can get a feel for the league and the players in the Q and to see what the Wildcats needed to improve the team. The Q is a totally different style from the WHL and OHL.,the Q is more offensive and wide open hockey than the other 2.Don,t get me wrong i,m not here to bash Nolan,I think we have the best coach in the CHL right now,but a year experience in this league sure would have been nice for him.You got to feel sorry for him because if things don,t go right there will be people calling for his head., but if thers anybody that can do it and bring this team to the promiseland its you Ted.GO TED GO ;D

Marv Levy coached the Buffalo Bills for 11 1/2 seasons and he never won a single pre-season game. He coached his team to the Superbowl at least 3 times. I once heard him say that he felt they shouldn't even keep score in pre-season games because it was nothing more than a means of evaluating his players. He also won 2 Grey Cups and is in the NFL Hall of Fame. I'm not going to worry about the Wildcats until we at least know who they are going to be.

As far as never winning it, doesn't matter they were there and in a 1 game winner take all format anything can happen. I'd love to see the Cats win the Memorial Cup, but I'm more interested in seeing them win the President's Cup. I'd rather they earn their way to the big show rather than just coast in because they're hosting it.

Tighter checking, bigger players, more clutching and grabbing. Only Gatineau plays like the Martime teams on the other side. So it's not going to be that out of place for Nolan in the east.
