cats have signed 6-foot-5 forward Matt Marquardt. had 41 points in 56 games as an 18 yo rookie in ontario jr a last year. passed over in the OHL draft. alot of US colleges and CHL teams (London, Kelowna, Kitchener, Gatineau i know are some) were gunning for him so he must have something.

These FA's all sound interesting. Coach Nolan could be putting together a very competitive team with a total cost of zero. ( I'm not talking about hypothetical losses of ice time and development of younger players for the future....strictly this year's Memorial Cup run.) I'm sure even Billy will agree that there are many players out there with plenty of talent for the "Q" but for various reasons have manged to slip through the cracks. Quite a few of them seem to be popping up in Moncton these days. The Memorial Cup card seems to trumping everything else out there. This is going to be a very interesting camp and pre-season.
We may have a team full of mercenaries....and that's okay as long as they're very good mercenaries.

For those keeping track, here's the list of FA to date (source T&T):
"Marquardt, Ouskun and the Keller brothers make for an updated total of 10 free agents coming to Wildcats camp.
The others are goaltender Daniel J. Del Buono (Valley Warriors, U.S. junior A), defenceman Brayden Penner (Quesnel Millionaires, British Columbia junior A) and forwards Taylor Moore (Langley Hornets, B.C. junior A), Steve Obelnicki (Southeast Blades, Manitoba junior A), Tim Spencer (Estevan Bruins, Saskatchewan junior A) and Shaun Clinton (Pembroke Lumber Kings, Ontario junior A)."

Great pick up for the Cats. Marquardt is by far the best FA you guys signed as of yet. Plenty of skill and got the size to go with it. Good pick up for the Cats..... looking forward to seeing him play this season.....even in a Moncton sweater.... Here is an article on him for you all. www.baytoday.ca/content/sports/details.asp?c=9193

I can't wait for the pre-season games, sounds like there's going to be a lot of tough lads trying to make this team. I can handle losing a lot better than getting pushed around, especially in our own rink.
