... a load of hockey gear and sticks in bags embossed with the Portland Pirates logo was on the baggage carousel yesterday at the Moncton Airport.
Could Bourque be coming to town to play in Power's "Summer Hockey league" that is mentioned in today's paper ?

The Atlantic Canadians Selection Camp starts this weekend, the actual Chowder Cup is only in August (Aug.4-7).

I heard that the Cats were bringing in Alice Cooper to spice up the intermission activities. Perhaps chasing FurBall and Wild Willy around with an assortment of weapons, and opening another beer distribution headquarters, as the line-ups were so damn long last year. Lets make the beer more accessible shall we? That would be the first step on the road to hosting the Memorial Cup.

Or Saunders was traded to Lewiston for some used Portland Pirates hockey sticks and hockey equipment. Now that you mention it (in jest of course) ... Saunders is owned by Anaheim and they have closed their Cincinatti AHL team and will be combining with Washington in Portland for the coming season ... maybe the gear belongs to Saunders as he was returning from a rookie camp or something. And on that note ... since Washington will combine with Anaheim to supply players to Portland ... it may be more likely that the unsigned Bourque will land in Moncton rather than Portland. Washington will likely go with guys they already have under contract rather than sign a guy they can hold off for a year who would bump an already signed guy to a lower level.

I think Washington is out of Portland altogether, I believe they are now affiliated with Hershey - not sure if anyone else shares the affiliate with them or not...
