Apparently Baie Comeau has given the WC permission to have Loic Lacasse in traning camp, if the WC want him they will then be able to complete a trade with BC.

If this is true, it would be a good acquistion for the Cats. Lacasse will put pressure on Blanchard to be sharp every night, and if Blanchard falters, Lacasse is capable of moving into the #1 role.

good pickup if it happens, it would give the cats a solid 1-2. i just hope the completed trade doesn't involve anything more than a 3rd rounder in 06. with all due respect, i don't think there's a need to overpay for lacasse, mem cup or not.

The Wildcats will probably trade for a veteran goaltender at Christmas so that he can be the number 1 goaltender for the Memorial Cup...;
Blanchard and Lacasse don't have the capacity nor the experience to lead the Wildcats to a Mem Cup win...

Blanchard will be one of the top 4-5 goalies ion the q next year. He's already proven he can be a very good goalie, waht makes you think he won't be even better next year? He's never lost to the Titan, I think he is 3-0-0 and like a 1.25 GAA against you guys...I don't see where he showed too many weaknesses at the KCI that would bak up your argument. Once again you make puckbunny posts with nothing factual to back it up.

Lacasse does not have the capacity and Blanchard does not have the experience... The word is out that Nolan is already searching...

The Cats would be crazy NOT to let Blanchard play and take a stab at the #1 position. Last year he proved he had the goods. For goalies within the Q that played below 1380 minutes he was second in the league. He's GAA was 2.26 while Crawford, who led the league overall, had a GAA of 2.47. Blanchard's save % .918. Crawford's .920. Other than Corey playing more games, which makes sense... he was our #1 last year, Blanchard is just about a carbon copy. What the CATS should do is allow Blanchard to start the 1st half of the season and see if he continues where he left off from last year. If he does...GREAT! IF not THEN we trade for a vet but could someone PLEASE tell me who in the league would you WANT to trade for??? I cant think of ANYONE right now that I would want to see in the nets.
Our goaltending isnt our BIG problem this year at all... its finding a few players that can CONSISTANTLY put the puck in the net.

Oh and for those that THINK Lacasse is a good pick up... well, last year.. well.. he SUCKED!! Was ranked 20th in the league with a GAA of 4.06, and a S% of .884. Gee wonder WHY BC would allow us to bring him to training camp??

If you are going to use the excuse that BC was rebuilding and that's its tough to put up STATS .. well then why dont we go after Lacasse's team mate Dupont?? He played MORE games than Lacasse was was ranked 15th overall in the league to Lacasse's 20th. To go one step FURTHER Val D'or and Victoriaville had worse records than BC yet they had goalies finish with even better stats than Lacasse or Dupont. It's a pretty lame excuse to say the club is rebuilding. My only point is that I dont see it being a PLUS to have Lacasse in training camp or better yet have him on the team in Sept when he just isnt a Mem Cup goalie. Is JC a Mem Cup goalie??? The only way to find out is to allow him to start the 1st half of the season.

Gee wonder WHY BC would allow us to bring him to training camp?? It's a no lose situation for the Cats. Lacasse is a pretty good goalie but had a bad year last year and lost his #1 job, you bring him to camp and see how he does, if he plays well trade for him as your back up, if he doesn't, keep Cote-Vallieres and let him go back to BC.

Lacasse will not go back to BC. Blanchard on trial for a couple of months would be a good idea... Tremblay or Desjardins could be available if need there is... How about a trade of Lacasse and Samson to Rimouski for Desjardins?
