www.tsn.ca/columnists/aj_walling.aspIn particular this paragraph : Moncton wanted to host this game and will try to get it next year. Don't count them out. Who in the world thought they could get a Memorial Cup, which they have lined up for next spring? And it's Moncton, not Ottawa, Calgary or any other CFL city that has the Rolling Stones this coming Labour Day weekend. He makes it seem like Moncton is some backyard swamp. And aren't the Stones playing Ottawa and Calgary? Maybe not labour day weekend, but they are playing those cites and not Halifax. Somebody needs to find out why TSN still allows his biased articles.

I didn't find it biased at all. Especially when he says "(Moncton)... don't count them out". I actually think it sounded positive for us. Mentioning the Mem Cup and the Stones in relation to us is really good. Shows that we're players. Sure he "assumes" that Smellifax will get the team, but he wasn't biased. Anyhoo... I think all those snobby/holier-than-thou folks from the port city will be very surprised come 2008. I love being the underdog.

I hear what you're saying...but rewind back in the years when the Q came to Moncton It is a valid statement in that perspective... If we talk CFL; I cannot see it hapening in Moncton in the next 5 years... Face it, the population and fan base in the area is not strong enough IMO...

I think the population and fan base are large enough... but the corporate support is really what's going to kill us.

I hear what you're saying...but rewind back in the years when the Q came to Moncton It is a valid statement in that perspective... If we talk CFL; I cannot see it happening in Moncton in the next 5 years... Face it, the population and fan base in the area is not strong enough IMO... I think the population and fan base are large enough... but the corporate support is really what's going to kill us. The average CFL attendance last year was just under 28 000 per game. Cities like, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary.... Some of these cities have 3-4 times the population of our entire province and can only manage low 20k attendance.. I cannot see where you will find even 20 000 in the Moncton area that will take as much interest as needed to get a franchise here...

When I think of the Moncton Area, I think of Moncton, Dieppe, Riverview, Shediac, Alma, and other small communities in the Southeastern portions of NB. To me if this was ever to happen in the Maratimes and Moncton was the city selected to be the new home of a team that people will not only come from just "Moncton Area". I think if this ever kicked off in Moncton there would be football fans from all over the Maratimes within a decent distance from Moncton coming up to attend games. I can see people from across NB, people from PEI, and Nova Scotia coming up to attend games, might not be the same people every game, but I think that if this was to kick of that reaching 20,000 plus fans a game is not out of the question. And just to reply to A posters comment on where the concerts are in Canada! Your correct, the Rolling Stones are playing four concerts in Canada in Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Moncton

Your correct, the Rolling Stones are playing four concerts in Canada in Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Moncton They also added a concert in Montreal. And according to the paper today since tickets are on high demand for this concert in Moncton they are looking at adding another show here a few weeks later!
