Can't be true ... he was a bust ... Just like Patrice Bergeron, the Titan only got 1 year out of him...waste of a draft pick.

Can't be true ... he was a bust ... Just like Patrice Bergeron, the Titan only got 1 year out of him...waste of a draft pick. Pineault played 2 seasons in Moncton........61 games one year and 55 the next. .........and he was a bust for being drafted that high........it doesn't matter what he develops into in the future, he wasn't good enough in the Q to be a 1st round pick. To put it in a better perspective.....Bergeron was picked in the 5th or 6th round.

Even a blind squirrel stumbles across a nut from time to time. Do we need to have a history lesson on drafting and how it is speculation, situation, development-ation(?). Pineault was a solid first round pick based on the tools he brought to the game. He was an above average player with tons of potential. He was also a second round NHL pick and is going to get a taste of the show in his first year out of Junior. I think a guy worthy of 46th overall pick to the best pro-league in the world is probably worthy of a first round Q pick. Who were the last Titan alumni to make it to the NHL?

A first rounder in the Q has to be a top dman, top goalie, or a top forward......if a forward doesn't put up minimum 85-100 points it is a disappointment.......wasn't Pineault taken like 3rd overall or something? Last Titan to make the NHL, after Bergeron was Bruno Gervais, I believe.....Ferland played a few games with Montreal last year also.....

EDit: Yes he did ... but it was this year ... after a decent showing last year at the Worlds for Latvia. www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=51231

I don't think Pineault is the guy I would like to hang my hat on for this debate but Hockey is a game of intangibles and there are a lot of 30 goal scorers on winning teams that are better players then a 130 point scorer on a losing team. There are always going to be pearls that are unearthed in later rounds or appear as free agents. Based on potential Pineault was a great first round pick, he had all the tools. If,if ,if he hadn't gone to NCAA first, if the Cats had an NHL calibre coach etc, etc. Numbers do not tell the whole tale of a hockey player and his value to his team. There are a lot of players who put up 5 times the points of Pineault that never, ever got a sniff of the NHL. I know you know all this stuff and if the shoe was on the other foot would be typing the same thing to me. We are claiming joint custody of Ferland, Girard and any other players involved in "The Deal" that suited up for an NHL club.

That's why I didn't include Girard, Beauchemin, Abid, Luongo etc., as alumni who had made the NHL....cause I knew everybody would be talking about how we only had them because we bought them or something... ..........Ferland is ours sorry....he made the NHL because of his play in Bathurst.........more recent is.....Ferland, Sprukts, Bergeron, Gervais, Cote, Lajeunesse (AKA flop), anymore?
