I see Lincourt as a "depth" move for this season and next. Sure, we're giving up picks, but in general we draft well (just look at what we did summer '06....Pianosi, Cameron), and we do have a fairly large number of players returning next season so the need to draft 12+ guys may not be crucial anyway.
Lincourt, Mangan, and Morehouse wouldn't be a bad trio of 20 yo's next season.

Lincourt, Mangan, and Morehouse wouldn't be a bad trio of 20 yo's next season. That's what I was thinking. Trade Sniderman, keep those three guys and send Emanuele to Junior A. Unless we got a great offer on Mangan, trade him and keep Emanuele and let's go through a real rebuilding season.

Emanuele could be traded over the summer in a similar move to the Dave MacDonald and Tim Spencer deals.
I don't think you want to use a 20 yo slot on a backup goaltender, so I would guess Sniderman is not in next season's plans. I really can't judge his trade value because I'm not knowledgeable regarding most other teams' goatending situations (for either this year or next). I think Riopel's nagging groin may have put an end to the thought of trading Sniderman right away.

If this nagging groin injury is going to continue throughout his Q career, we're going to have to make sure we have a very capable back-up over the next two seasons to play behind Riopel.

I really like that deal. I think Torchetti gets the most out of his players, as has been pointed out before, so I'm pretty confident any "issues" Lincourt had in Val D'Or are irrelevant. Now the only question is whether or not he plays tonight...we could sure use the extra body.

I have a suggestion. Don't bitch about him if he doesn't play well tonight. He played at home last night. He might have hit the plane today or yesterday but either way he could be tired. Added to the fact that he'll be with a bunch of new teammates. I know I'll be giving him quite a few games before I jump to conclusions and I hope you all do the same.

That being said, I'm sure he feels like he has something to prove.

I think patience will be the word with this guy. If we go by what the Rimouski, Quebec and Val-d'Or fans say, he can be electric one night, when you think he could develop into the prime player, and the game after, he seems incapable of keeping the puck on his stick.
Now, in a prime role, he was a PPG player on a very bad Rimouski team last year, and he will have a lot more ice time and responsibilities in Moncton then Val-d'Or. I think he will do allright, although he will probably be one of those players who has ardent defenders and very strong dislikers.
I've never seen him play (or rather I haven't notice him play), so I'll give him a good chance.

I don't know what this says about me, but I have a hard time picking up on who the other team has on the ice unless it is a very obvious superstar, like Beauregard & Perrault for A-B.

I thought Lincourt played a decent game last night, although there were a few instances when I thought he wasn't quite aware of where the puck was. And I'm not sure if he's just a little slowed-footed or was tired, but there were some pucks along the boards he should have gotten to. But overall, I think he'll score some goals, he seems to know where to position himself in the offensive zone...he ripped one shot from the slot that had a lot of zip on it. Not a bad debut, especially where he hasn't practiced with the team or learned our systems yet.

Not a bad debut, especially where he hasn't practiced with the team or learned our systems yet. I think part of it may have been uncertainty with the Cats systems - in the defensive zone there were a couple of situations where he could have had the puck along the boards, but he seemed hesitant as to how far he should collapse off the point man ... give him a few practices and it should help. One thing I noticed which I think goes a long way to explaining the Cats success this year (and possibly why V-D is not higher in the standings) ... he does not battle any where hear as hard for pucks on the boards as the rest of our forwards ... our guys never give up ... hopefully Torchetti and co. can instill that same ethic in Lincourt, because he has some obvious talent.
