Interesting comment in L'Acadie Nouvelle this morning. Apparently, Nolan hasn't signed a contract with the Islanders yet. According to him though, it's just a formality. That is probably why the hirings of Flynn and Lacroix have not been announced.

If it is the case that Torchetti will be announced I think this is probably the best option that we have. He has NHL experience (limited but still has it according to the reports in the T&T) like another poster stated from the Boston area and may be able to appeal to some of the US players and maybe has some contacts in the NHL that may swing some GM's to send their players this way instead of the NCAA route. I think this will be a good announcement if its true.

I saw Torchetti at the Mets game tonight, he wasn't answering any questions, just said he was in town till the weekend....If its him it will be very good in my opinion, There is lots of good things to this guy!!
