Bourdon is a defensive defenceman with skill. He is a guy who will look after his own end first. I find his style to be that of a more skilled Nathan Saunders.
Look at Tezikov and Kalinin when they were here. Tez was flashy as hell all over the ice. Kalinin quietly shut down passing lanes and controlled his end of the ice. Most fans preferred Tez to Kalinin...Kalinin made a quick jump to the NHL.

Bourdon showed us what he's capable of in the World Juniors but he's yet to show that here, his play defensively is not good at all, he's our third best defensman.
I'm not panicking about him I'm just stating his play up to now, I'm glad we picked him up and his true worth will show through in the playoffs and against top tier teams.
We're just discussing his play which has been sub-par and speculating when he'll break out of his little slump.

I would really like the guys that are saying Bourdon's defensive play is bad to explain themselves. I just don't see how they can figure this.

So far, he's been fairly good without the puck. I'd say when he has the puck, he's only average. Coughs it up too much and makes bad passes.

he gave up the puck a few time in his own end. His mistakes never had a negative impact on the end-result of any game. He's not the only one making mistakes, the team is undefeated since he's been there and there's still enough time left in the season to fine-tune anything that needs to.
I don't see any issues.

You're probably right (I hope so!). Man I was sure stoked to have him come here, and I was yelling LUUUUUUC as much as anyone. He just hasn't lived up to the hype yet. My hope is that he gets teamed up with Bartulis when he gets back. So far, I compare Bourdon as a Wildcat in many ways to Saunders. Bartulis hasn't been the same since him and Nathan were linemates - maybe the similar style of Bourdon will bring back the best of Bart.

I would really like the guys that are saying Bourdon's defensive play is bad to explain themselves. I just don't see how they can figure this. He's a -2 in 6 or 7 games on a team where other dmen are in the +40's.............that kinda explains itself........ ;D ;D

Also, the other defenceman aren't +40 in 6 games. I'm sure they've been through stretches where they were -2 in 6 or 7 games.

Porkchop...are you saying that you don't wish the Titan had him on thier team? ? We'll keep him, thank you very much. He is an NHL caliber player. No doubt he'll be there next year! I sure as heck wouldn't stand in front of one of his shots!

Add to the fact that the "new" NHL has an earlier free agency. So if a guy is on the edge of making the team but would be only a 6th or 7th guy it'd be best off to save a year in free agency and bring him in the next year. Bourdon is a very smart player and will make it to the NHL, but not next year.

I have to agree with steve that he is not ready for the NHL from what I seen so far. Yandle is outperforming him big time. He need to pick his game up and keep it that way in order to prove he will belong in the NHL next year. I think your going to see him here some time next year. He might stick up there for a bit but not the whole year. Trade Bait for next year

I thought that he played pretty solid against St. Johns... Some nice hits, a few great shots, and positionally he seemed to always be there. Once when Yandle got caught up ice he REALLY worked to catch up to a 2 on 1 the other way...
AND I didn't notice him cough up the puck once. He may have... but I don't remember it.
I understand that the level of competition was poor, but it is great to see Luc have a good game.

I remember one.........He was on the boards about the level of the faceoff circle........tried to pass across to the other point, and put it right on the stick of a newfy player..........he was caught back and it ended up in a 2 on 1..........I not sure if it was Belanger or Welton that made a big play at the other end to break up the play.
