The negotations continue concerning the defender star of the Foreurs Luc Bumblebee. The Foreurs and the Wildcats of Moncton concluded Friday an agreement in principle with the intention of to solidify an attack that rests only on Olive Tree Latendresse. In Bumblebee return, the Foreurs wanted to put the hand on the better marker of the Wildcats, Ian mathieu-girard, the defender John sébastien Adam as well as the choices of 1st and 4th turn of the Wildcats. As it custom in the LHJMQ, the choice of round first one obtained by the Foreurs could have returned to Moncton the next year in return of an attack, possibly Brad Merchant. For the moment, the transaction is not official since the defender Adam refuses to retrieve itself to Val-d one' Now. The two teams look for again a manner to undo the dead end. adam is acting like a lil baby!!!! he should just report to val d'or and play hockey...... Put yourself in his shoes ... wouldn't you be upset ? Leaving the Mem Cup host for a team that is selling off its assets and has struggled all year ... leaving one of the richest teams in the Q to go to a team that is apparently on the brink of bankruptcy .... leaving a team in the geographical center of a division so that most road trips are 2 hrs ... to head to a team that is remotely located and road trips can be as long as 24 hrs of driving (VD to CB). Add to the fact the frustration of him being out injured all year and really only getting his chance to play regularly in the last month. Its been a very disappointing year for him so far and now this just makes it much worse. He knows he isn't going to play pro anywhere ... and may play university hockey after his Jr career is done ... so going home to play Jr AAA isn't as bad as it sounds. Heading to VD is not an attractive option. Your commnets are selfishly motivated.

Hmm - so, does that mean Girard can't play for VD until the trade becomes "official"? The only thing I can think of worse than being traded to VD from a Mem Cup bound team when one doesn't want to go, is to be sent to VD and then not be able to play!
I understand Adam's feelings - intense disappointment to be sure, and I can understand the attraction of being a standout player in AAA for the next 4 months and then looking at University hockey next year - like Steve said, Adam isn't looking for a pro contract, he really stands to gain little from playing in VD the rest of the year, aside from maybe personal satisfaction of playing at the highest level possible and having a positive impact on younger players.
There must be precedents set in the past in similar circumstances - I can't imagine Adam is the first player involved in a trade who didn't want to report......

Every player has the option to play in any number of leagues ... and they have the option to play or not to play for the team that owns their rights. Whats in it for Adam ?

It's not difficult to imagine what Adam must be feeling, and yes maybe he's not in line for a pro career, this however will put a stink on him that likely will never go away.
if he fails to report, every team in the country will be aware of it and his attitude, not a good way to start off in life.

It happens often ... in Bathurst 3 seasons ago Janis Sprukts returned half way through the year to play as a 20 yr old Euro ... and so the Titan had to make room for him by trading a 20 yr old away. They had a deal set up to trade Olivier Fillion away but he refused to report ... so at the last minute they felt forced into trading away their Captain and top Dman Tyler Reid to Hull ... for a mere 2nd round return. Bathurst lost out in the 2nd round of the playoffs to Halifax ... and Tyler Reid won the Prez cup with Hull. A bad move by Bathurst to trade away Reid ... all because Fillion wouldn't agree to a trade.

Really bad news for Moncton as this replacement might end up being one of your younger guys like Emanuele or Orskun since Val D'Or wants a defenseman who can play now. Also this re-negotiating is taking time away from finding a replacement for Girard and the trade deadline is quickly approaching. Having said that Bourdon is an excellent acquisition and I am sure they finalize this deal within the next day or so.
And personally I feel for Adam and can understand where he is coming from. I think sometimes us fans treat these players too much like assets and not enough like people and I am sure lots of fans are pretty upset with Adam for refusing to report to Val D'Or but we have to look at it from his point of view.
And maybe we can work out a deal between Moncton and PEI. How about Moncton trades Adam and a draft pick for Stewart?

I'm wonder if Bartulis wasn't injured for 6 to 8 weeks would he still have reacted the same? I'm not sure what kind of playing time he would have got if bartulis was back here. I doubt he'd play ahead of belanger or bartulis and the others are pretty much locks. If we dressed 7 dmen he would play a few shifts. I'm not sure he cares about playing time maybe he justs wants in on a winning team.
