Heard a rumor at lunch from an NHL scout that Colombus has sent Dupuis down to the Cats today. He said that they are deep at the AHL level and want him to get 1st line ice time here vs playing ECHL or 4th line AHL.

I heard something similar to that this morning from a billet ... but I figured it was just talk. Maybe its true.

Assume for a minute it is true.... who would you keep between Hepditch and Girard?

Between the two, I would take Girard. For the time being he could be used on the 3rd line.

Assume for a minute it is true.... who would you keep between Hepditch and Girard? With Hepditch, you have a guy that is versatile (can play defense or forward) and is known as a hard worker and good presence in the locker room. With Girard, you have a speedy little spark plug, who can chip in offensively from time to time. If you go with who can produce the most on the ice, i'd go with Girard. If you want someone with leadership qualities, then i would lean towards Hepditch. Personally, i have a feeling they will keep Hepditch, if Dupuis is coming. It doesnt really matter which one they keep, either one wont be on the team after the midseason trade period.

If this is true, then I hope to see several out there buying Doug McLean a beer the next time he's at a Cats game or in town!

If we have to rely on Hepditch or Girard for Scoring, we are in trouble. Either way, the one we keep will be a role player. That is the reason I would keep Hepditch, he will drop them against middleweight, he has leadership and he has played every position on the team so far except for goalie. He is a better role player than Girard.

If that's the case, then I'm sure Josh has probably laced up the equipment for fun...

Girard would not be a bad option on the 2nd line in case of injuries, but like Steve said, with a healthy lineup, you could go with only 1 20 year old and not miss a beat...Karsums-Goulet-Graham Pineault-Marchand-Marquardt Gaudet-Samson-Spencer Eagles-Chabot-Moore/Morehouse/Smith

Have to agree with those that would keep Hepditch. Neither of the two will put up big offensive numbers and therefor the advantage has to be Hepditch for his versatility and leadership.

I hope you are not trying to say that adding Dupuis in the lineup would not be an improvement.

I saw him playing goalie off the Gorge Road a few weeks ago...the kid shooting on him missed the net completely and the hooded goalie didn't even get to show his stuff. ;D
