I was reading this morning that Moncton will probably have Pineault and Goulet back for next Friday opener in Bathurst... The Titan should have a couple of returnees from pro camps as well for next weekend. I do expect a very emotional game at the KC Irving next Friday and a very good crowd...

According to today's TT article, The Cats expect all six back for Friday (Yandle, Graham, Marquardt, Karsums, Pineault, Goulet). Those additions will certainly make this game interesting.

It will surely give everybody a better measuring stick of both contenders this year... I don't expect Bouthillette or Roy back though as IMO Roy should have a fair chance of participating in the Rangers main camp...

Roy was not even drafted, they won't keep him for main camp ahead of a bunch of drafted guys...

I assume if Graham is back ... 2nd round draft pick for the Rangers ... then the undrafted Roy will also be back. Roy may outshine Graham at the camp but they have more invested in Graham and will want to take as long a look as possible at him. Roy isn't making the Rangers ... and can't play minor-pro ... so what is the point of keeping him longer ? I think our team is still going to start the season off slowly ... we haven't played a game with anything resembling our final roster ... and our team will need a few games to gel. I'm disappointed that Nolan and crew chose only a 6 game pre-season schedule ... games seemed to be so far apart ... there just never seemed to be any cohesion and no set lines yet. One of the reasons the Titan played a strong pre-season is because they played so many games and played several in a row over a short period ... but also got their main guys into the lineup early on and kept them there ... going with an 80% roster on most nights. I believe it is a smarter way to go when you want to get out of the gate quick in the Reg season.

The big difference between the Cats and the Titan is that Bathurst needs to win games early to sell tickets for the team's survival. The Cats have already sold a ton of tickets and are basically playing exhibition games for another 8 months...they can afford to take a longer look at Gardiner Penner Morehouse Obelnicki etc

Also they are something like 35% ahead of last year's pre-season attendance(if we don't factor in the Crosby show at the end of pre-season). IMO I expect a full house for Friday, if not over 3,000 fans for sure... Yes, the quick start off the gate is important for the Titans...

What is the rule regarding players such as Roy who are passed over in the draft the first time? Teams will regularly invite such players to NHL camp (or rookie camp), but do they own their rights? If Mathieu Roy had a phenomenal camp, could the Rangers sign him and keep him in the NHL? I don't think they could - Roy is going back into next year's draft, I think FAs can only sign if they go undrafted until age 20??? Anybody shed some light on this?

Thats not many tests before reaching the playoffs. Our schedule and our division are not going to prepare us very well for a long playoff run. I want this team to come out of the gate fast and stay in front all year ... even though Bathurst may be slightly weaker on paper than us they will still win most nights ... and we'll have to do that as well to stay ahead and maintain home ice through the playoffs.

Rah-Rah post alert!!! Please ignore the following if you do not want to read positive thinking. I agree with you Steve. That attitude would kill us. This year is supposed to be our year. The year that is supposed to lead us to the promised land. I want this team to take off from the blocks and prove to the nay-sayers that the Cats are ready to host the Mem Cup tournament.

The first game of the season is the worst measuring stick possible.
