I was out of town and I didn't get to see the game tonight, but looking at the lineup the score didn't surprise me. I noticed my favorite flatfooted defense-man Penner was a -3. Watch him for 3 seconds any of the games and you will shake your head wondering why he is still in camp. I notice that you all seem to saying that the team tonight is most of the team but it is not even close. Your not going to see Eagles, Moorehouse, Hepditch, Penner, Girard, Samson, .... and many of the other ones on the final team and loses like this one prove why. I noticed also that Gardiner was one of a few non minus guys tonight. Did he play better than the others? i don;t why i am repling to this after reading your first sentence but here goes. #1 look at the shots on net 57-26 #2 look at the dangerous shots 32 to16 #3 look at the pen #4 weak weak goals second one from the center ice on a shot in off the net over his glove or hit him and in the net #5 more than one player with non minus for the night gaudet, hepditch line #6 won face offs 48 to22 need i go on what this team will look like

As bad as the pen was we only got 3 goals on 32 dangerous shots? Reminds me a lot of last years team. Glad its going to change.

Penner's got to do something spectaclar soon, Morehouse plays like he's Obelnicki's size, which is good except the stupid penalties, and Obelnicki needs to play Morehouse's style. That hit on Starenky in the last minute was great, but a hit like that early in the game really sets a tone.

Wow, do I agree with this statement. The team looked absolutely awful, especially the "veterans" (and in particular Pineault). I am beginning to agree with another poster that maybe they should have kept Riopel over Blouin. Blouin was made of papiere-mache. Would playing Blanchard have made any difference?... not tonight - the whole team was useless. I would like to see Blanchard in a game though.
They have 3 games left to prove themselves, then these games start counting. If the final Memorial Cup roster comes from this group, then it's going to be a loooong season! I disagree with Nolan's statement in today's T&T - there is not one positive thing that came out of this game. I think one positive thing was that the makeup of this entire team has to be rethought. These players (as a group) won't make it! These so-called veterans better start showing up!

Shedogs positive; Alex Grant(20) only 16 he s the real thing he quarter backed their power play very well.......guess he was their 1st draft picke was he? # 26 Monohan A pretty slick and puck handler...why is this name familiar? #6 Jeff Caron what a PEI lost they could ve perhaps use him..........on D Starenky #27 played like a vet but will cost the Shedogs alot of penalty minutes this year.......with rule change (no center line)fast player will be hooked by him regularly...IMO can t wait to see him meet Moore Cats plus side: Goulet #16 still a sniper and may very well have 30-35 goals this year............(weak division remember!) Marchand a tad heavier but still a bullit with his moves.....watch out as his icetime will increase! Marquardt #19 good speed for his size he s the real thing! Demers the onl one who showed up back on D..... Welton no center line he ll do fine has he got more skating room for that first pass.............seemed more ready for quarterbacking the PP this year.......time will tell(since last year!) Spencer is a keeper. Eagles too bad his small size will or may not cut it.....he sure has skills and gut/heart remind me of a mini Hepditch! Obelnicki the only thing that saved his ass last nigth was those 2 hits.....first one a bit cheap shot but the second one was priceless............otherwise he d probably be cut! Not making the cut IMO 6 Penner (d) 9 Ouskun (d) 18 Gardiner may stick (d)?? 25 Smith (f) Obelnicki(f) yet may stick??? 14 Eagles another if due to his size and onle 17 could be trade bait? ? Just my opinion!after watching the first pre season game.....(versus Shedogs) Worried??? NO

The Wildcats "will have" way above average Defense and Goaltending when they settle down. They will also have 6 lock Forwards with Graham, Marchand, Karsums, Pineault, Goulet and Marquardt. That means when Dupuis probably reports and Gaudet starts to benefit from the coaching, then we need 1 or 2 quality 20 yr olds to nail this one. Right now we are weighted down by players with heart but are lacking size or age... no fault of their own and they will probably be great for us next year.

Wow, do I agree with this statement. Unless we get a 20 y/old back in the form of Dupuis, Bernier or Saunders, Girard is a keeper. Hell I think he's a keeper anyway. Who out there works as hard as Girard?

Not sure why you guys are all worked up about that game, the cats outplayed them with half their roster. St.John had 80% of their team and 5 20's dressed. Blouin came undone after the bad bounce goal, St.john should have had 3 maybe 4 goals and Whitlock was outstanding.
As far as Pineault goes, he has nothing to prove in preseason, Nolan played him the equivalent of a 4th line and a fair bit on PP, I thought he looked average, had 2 assists and played with an edge, even took a run or 2 at Starensky.
8-9 of the guys in the lineup are battling for the last spots on the roster, I don't see Gardiner Ouskun or Penner in the top 6(Yandle Adam Belanger Demers Bartulis Welton MacDonald).

Eagles too bad his small size will or may not cut it.....he sure has skills and gut/heart remind me of a mini Hepditch! I am in Montreal right now and didn't get to the game last night and haven't seen Eagles play yet. Hepditch is no great lunker out there so when you say Eagles is like a mini-Hepditch I have to ask you just how small is this guy. Does he have to look up to Girard.
