Was reading about the Gatineau camp on radoter, some of their fans seem to think that Blanchette is their #1 d-man heading into the season. If that is true, then either the Cats made a mistake in letting him go for a low pick; or Gatineau is in for a very long season. Personally, I thought Blanchette was already underrated during his time with the Cats, for the most part he was a steady d-man ... I was surprised when he slipped through the expansion draft unclaimed, just goes to show how much depth we had heading into the expansion draft I guess...

Blanchette dropped in the depth chart when Belanger Welton Yandle and possibly MacDonald. Plus guys like Emanuele Demers and Tanguay are younger. Also Gatineau is quite young and not very good on defense right now.

Blanchette looked very good in camp ... bigger and meaner than last year too. But he wasn't anywhere close to being our best D ... but I felt he was ahead of most of the new recruits and Tanguay.
Welton, Bartulis (only saw him in practice), Demers all seemed ahead of him ... Adam was ahead of him last year ... and add in Belanger and Yandle and possibly MacDonald and his days were numbered. Its a shame Tanguay wasn't tradeable as well as his days are numbered and will have to drop to Jr AAA ... or watch from the stands for a half season before trading re-opens. Tanguay had a great 16 yr old camp but never seemed to develop from there.

after seeing blanchette tonight, i quickly realized why we gave up an 8th round pick for him and that's because he can't skate and is a very average defenceman. he is strong though and may be able to help us a little but i wouldn't be surprised if he didn't last the season here.
