Once again what is wrong with sports today has been illustrated by a pro athlete...thanks Mr.Malkin...why compete when you are not guaranteed to win an individual trophy. Ah yes the ol M and E in team.
I am going with Crosby because of the PP that Pittsburgh has built this year. Ovechkin may have to carry the load a lot this year.

I agree ... but ... his agent is thinking of his opportunities to get bonus money ... and he'd likely get bonus money if he was awarded the Calder ... unless the CBA now prohibits that. Malkin only says something that his agent told him ... I wouldn't blame the kid for that ... he is getting advice from an agent ...

I agree with you saying that he's just saying things that his agent has said. The problem is that he doesn't know what is repeatable and what isn't. Sooner or later they have to stand up and think for themselves and take responsibility for their comments. Blaming the agent has become a cliche in its' own right. Look how well some other players....closer to home....have used that excuse. The truth be known, many of these spotlight stars do spell "team" with an "i". Remember the old rule of grammar...."I" before "E" when referring to ME. (eg. Tieam)

Remember the old rule of grammar...."I" before "E" when referring to ME. (eg. Tieam) In his culture ... cockiness may be perfectly acceptable and perhaps even expected from sports stars. Or perhaps in the translation from russian to english ... his words were altered and came out unintentionally cocky sounding.

Malkin's only doing what his agent's telling him to do...wait till next year. Crosby wins it this year (and gets the big bonus) and Malkin wins it next year (and gets the big bonus). I wonder who Malkin's agent is???...oh yea...the same guy that represents Crosby...pretty smart on the agents behalf if you ask me. (gets a cut of the bonus both years)

Well I find it unfair I'm even able to answer this since I'm as biased as anyone ;D
But Crosby! Ovechkin doesn't have near the supporting cast Crosby does

Ah yes the ol M and E in team. I am going with Crosby because of the PP that Pittsburgh has built this year. Ovechkin may have to carry the load a lot this year. That quote is a bit out of context. All Malkin said was his chances of winning the award are higher next year. Do you not agree with that? It's not the ~reason~ he's staying in Russia. He's staying in Russia, because the Russians wouldn't sign the IIHF transfer agreement, and Malkin couldn't get out of his deal.
