Tigers swing another pre-season trade
Aug-19-2005 On the same day that the Campbellton Tigers became the Restigouche Tigers, GM Rodney Harquail was busy inking a pre-training camp trade with the Moncton Gagnon Beavers. The Tigers, who recently swapped Nathan Francis for Carey Dickson with the Miramichi Timberwolves, have traded the rights of Moncton Wildcats defenseman Josh Hepditch to Moncton. In return, the Tigers receive a 4th round pick in 2006 that becomes a 2nd round pick if Hepditch ever signs on to play with the Beavers. Restigouche also gets 19yr old Michel Lavoie.
Hepditch is a 20yr old, 5’ 10” 175lb native of Fredericton New Brunswick who played his last 3 seasons with the Wildcats of the QMJHL. Last season, Hepditch played 70 games and tallied 22 points along with 65 penalty minutes on the blue line for the Wildcats. Over his 3 seasons with the Wildcats, Hepditch played 176 regular season games with 31 points and 207 penalty minutes.
Michel Lavoie is a 19yr old forward who played last season in the Roger Lizotte Senior League. In 24 games last season, Lavoie had an impressive 25 goals and 30 assists for a total of 55 points.
“We are happy to get the rights for a player that was never coming here”, said Beavers GM Troy Dumville. “We feel that we made a good trade here.”
