...but even I was shocked by this quote from this morning's T&T:
"We're going to win the Commonwealth (Games) bid," said MacKay. "Then we're going to get a CFL franchise and it's going to be shared between Moncton and Halifax. The Atlantic Schooners has a nice ring to it."
Yeah, because Monctonians and Haligonians typially get along so well, especially when national attention is involved.
Both cities have a ridiculous centre of the universe/big fish in a small pond attitude, and would be at each others throats even before the team had an expansion draft. What happens if Moncton gets the home opener? What about if most/all players are based in Halifax? It would get ugly really quickly, especially when we have people such as Al Hogan at the T&T and Colin MacKay on local radio so eager to stir up trouble and arrogantly push Moncton as being something it's not. The national media would be having a field day.
Both cities can try to get a team, either one ~might~ be able to pull it off if they market it correctly, but physically sharing a team will not work considering the collective egos involved.
