The gist of it is that he was arrested in Moncton after allegedly punching a doorman at a nightclub, breaking his nose. He spent last night in jail and appeared in court this morning. He will have to return to Moncton to register his plea at a later date.

That's funny I saw him one Friday night about 3 weeks ago...but he was with Saunders Sanford and Dan LeBlanc and others...I don't think it was that night.
I told him jokingly that he was a candyass, maybe he took it out on the bouncer ;D

It was in the T & T this morning as well... I'm sure that is the kind of headline Irving loves "Former Cats Captain Charged"...

I thought Irving controlled the T&T? How did this ever get in the paper?

Seeing that he is such a Moncton Wildcats lover, I wonder if Moncton's favorite son GOON will represent Thierry Douville in court? ;D
With his fantastic people skills, and his knowledge of the alphabet, he should be able to win over the judge without a problem! ;D

What was he doing that 5 bouncers had to jump him? What was his excuse why he tried to beat his way out of the cop car with his head? If he is found guilty than he will not be permitted back in to the states, so no ECHL. If I remember correctly, he also played a game in the AHL. Should have used his head to think with. One night of parting could change is life for good. Not only will it change his livelyhood but he is a young adult who could possibly have a record for life. It is time that he grows up and becomes a man.

I once read about a young male athlete that had too much to drink at a bar and got into a fight.... but that was years ago and I always thought it was one of those urban myths.
So what? Douville got into a bar fight, big deal. If I had been 6'5" and 230 pounds you can bet I'd have been in a lot more of them than I was.
I'm not excusing his behaviour and I'm sure the bouncer isn't feeling too kindly towards him, but it's not the end of the world. Like Sec21Critic said...who cares if an ex-Drakkar defenseman got into trouble?
Unless you were there you don't know what caused the incident. I've worked the door at clubs and have seen the locals try and tee off on guys like Douville just to see if they can take them. When it goes bad for them they quickly become the injured party and the Douville's wind up in the news. It happened to Eric Lindros too....and he survived.
How old is Douville....21....22? I'd hardly send up the signal flares. He behaved badly, he knows it, and he'll pay the consequences. The chances of him being sent to jail are remote unless he has a history of this kind of behaviour. As to a criminal record, well it depends on what he's charged with.
Douville isn't the first young man to have too much to drink and get into a fight and I doubt he'll be the last.

To be fair though, I don't have a hard time believing he was "jumped" or 5 bouncers "swarmed" him. (Using those words for lack of better words ... too early to think) I've seen my share of fights at clubs (luckily involved in none), and a lot of the bouncers will react quickly and use force when it is not necessary.
A few bouncers I have known always came across as being infected with small man syndrome.

You know give one of the bouncers one of his infamous bearhugs and a little noogie for good measure Saunders wanted to get in to it ... but he would have been 7th man in and ejected from the game ... and we need him on the ice and not in the penalt..... errr ... in jail. These canned answers are wearing thin ...
