Today's paper, Hodge confirmed in no uncertain terms that Brannon was coming to the Cats at the draft. Also stated that it was likely that Zach Sill would be with the Cats next season ...

What is the story on Sills. Is he good? I found that he left UM through the year, why didn't he come here?

If Sill does come to Moncton as well as getting Branon it could be a decent start to next year. Put a skilled Euro forward and a D man plus maybe a 20 yr old (Andricopolous?? maybe) plus a bit more toughness and maybe another NCAA player (Cross, Hayes or Heffernan). I really can't see Danis-Pepin comming as he should be playing big minutes in Maine. I am looking forward to seeing what Torchetti and co can do at both drafts. The other intangible that no one is mentioning is as long with the rookies gaining valuable Q exp so are the coaches. They were rookies in this league too. With a year under their belt and a better understanding of the teams and the league it will benefit us a lot next season. IMO

IMO Guys like Labelle Lessard Lepage Cameron Barberio Pianosi should all improve their offensive output by 15-30 points. I think Labelle and Cameron can both put up 55-60 points with a year under their belt and regular PP time. Lepage has the skills to score 20-25 goals. Lessard 15-20 goals. That line will benefit greatly from a year of physical development, they played some good hockey this year but not a lot of chances ended up in the net, next year with more strength and harder shots they could easily convert those chances. Eagles had a pretty nice year, 18 goals in 50 games. If he can stay healthy and get a bit stronger, he could put up 30 goals. With the right additions(Brannon plus a good Euro), the offense could be a fair bit more potent than this year with Marquardt and Mangan included.

IMO The thing about having a Coach/GM like Torchetti who is respected in NHL circles ... is that when NHL teams draft players owned by the Wildcats (Danis-Papin, Cross, Hayes, etc) ... they may encourage the player to go to the Q and play for Torchetti in a 70+ game season ... vs an NCAA program that plays a shorter schedule where academics are the higher priority, and they are stuck in supporting roles behind much older players. Its ultimately the players decision (and his parents) on what is best for him. It won't hurt having an American Head Coach either in attracting these players ... plus it wouldn't hurt to have Yandle and Pineault give these players a call ... two American guys that went from the Q to the AHL and almost to the NHL all in one season.

His contacts and also being an American head coach should definately help him land some guys here. I am looking forward to both drafts this year. At least we have one 1st round pick and two for the euro draft. We will see how his contacts work after the euro draft. I think we should be focusing on the D side of things. He has been able to land us a few good FA forwards but we need to see some D men and I think good D men will need to be drafted or traded for. Defense Pianosi 20 yr old Barberio Ouskun Tolles Euro Goyens Doesn't really instill a whole lot of confidence. This is assuming Emanuelle isn't here and we do trade for a 20 yr D man. I like Tolles but Goyens scares me most times when he is on the ice. I did not like the Pianosi Goyens pairing. (Easy for me to say while I am in the stands with a beer. Or three ) What are the chances of moving up at the draft? Is there really any team that would want to move down and what would it cost? If Devon MacAusland is available by the time we draft (I doubt he is there even though he is saying he wants to ply NCAA. Que will take him) do we draft him or stick with the best D man available? If

The league hated it last year when VD leaked the Marchand deal and they got their fingers slapped for it........wasn't there something put in place then to discourage teams from doing this in the future........if indeed this deal is in place, can we expect fines of some sort going to CB and Moncton over this?........

No because it is "freedom of the press" saying it not the teams themselves. Sure they are probably being fed this stuff but it isn't comming from the team. Last year Val D'Or got it because management said something in quote to the press.

Wow,sounds good already,if we can get another chris gaudet type player,Brannon and bring in some top notch euros and sneak in 1 or 2 FAs,sounds like we could head for another 80 pt season.
