I have been to a couple of St-Thomas games myself when I was younger, and I remember seeing a good number of people that did not seem to have anything to do with the university itself. My dad and someof his friends would often enough go, just to be able to see some hockey after the Fredericton Canadiens left.
Now in Moncton, les Aigles Bleus have no difficulty getting crowds anymore. Last year I believe a lot of their games were sold out, and I think it's going to be the same this year, since they are hosting the National Championships and the Wildcats will have a poor team. But at the time when the Wildcats really took off with the arrival of RKI, at that moment, the attendance took a pretty good hit, not helping was the university's poor showing on the ice at the same time.
But anyhow, I do not believe that UNB will lend the Aitken Center to a junior team in the near future, and Fredericton council is obviously not in favor of building facilities capable of running such a show, so arguing about this could pretty well be a moot point.

Corner Brook would be a nice addition to the league, thats if the area could support a team. The arena in Corner Brook has a capacity of 3100, and correct me if im wrong, but i think the league minimum for new teams is 3000, so that wouldnt be an issue. Teams making the trip to NFLD. would then have 2 teams to play instead of one, and it would also create an instant rival for the Fog Devils.

I'm just saying this out of memory, but I think that M. Courteau had actually said that the minimum was 4000 or 4500, not too sure, around the time of the last expansion.
Anyways, the Q wants to get out of the smaller markets like Val-d'or and so on, so I highly doubt they would put a team in Cornerbrook. THey're now looking towards bigger markets like Montreal, Laval (again) and so on.

Repentigny just east of montreal on the Northshore would probably be feasible sooner than people could think! They have a location set up with the City along with the Habs. That would draw fans from Montreal Laval and Trois Rivieres areas. WI m sure well hear about this..........

WI m sure well hear about this.......... This sounds vaguely familiar? Did you post this a while back as well? Sounds like a potentially feasable plan, either for a Q team or a semi-pro team. On a similar note... IF the league decides to expand further, I hope they are able to retain two euros per team. I just think that a 19 or 20 team league could thin the level of talent so far that bringing in up to two euros per team would make more sense than ever.

another team in Newfoundland would allow the Devils to see all teams as Quebec teams could fly in for a 1 and 1 against both newfoundland teams instead of 5 teams not coming in
I dont see a team in Corner Brook anytime soon thou

Logistically, quite difficult as have to fly into Deer Lake then bus to the game etc as well as hellish expensive . Even St.John’s had difficulties with a pro team in the AHL and I am not convinced the Fog Devils will be a sure thing within next 5 years

I was there last week. The bus ride across the Province is roughly 7 hrs. Its likely teams would fly into SJ's ... play there then bus to Corner Brook ... and fly out of Deer Lake ... or vice versa. Or play each team twice ... fly inot SJ's for one game ... bus to CB for 2 games ... bus back to SJ's for another game and then fly out. The logistics aren't that bad at all ... 7 hr bus rides are common in the Q. Moncton to Lewiston is 7 hrs or thereabouts

actually travel was hardly the reason the Leafs left St.John's ,it was part the reason. Its not our fault the AHL put the Leafs in the Western Conference when we were the most Easterly team
I also cant see how you think the Devils will leave St.John's i hardly see that happening ,unless its cause of SJSE

I agree with some of what you say but for airline travel Provincial Airlines is the only operator between Deer Lake and St John's. Even to the mainland from Deer Lake is either through Halifax or Montreal with Jazz/Canjet and from Halifax again either Toronto or Montreal. However, even if the driving/flying combination you mentioned it would be a least a week if not longer in NL for two games with each NL team should Corner Brook get into the action and that will cost. My understanding and correct me if I am wrong, but the Fog Devils franchise has to subsidize some of the out of town “Q” expense also I don’t think there is big money in Corner Brook like St John’s(Dobbins) or even like RKI that would take on that kind of start – up costs. However, just my 2 cents worth and I could certainly be full of shit………..
