Steve, it is about time that you realize that there is way too much smoke to pin this as a rumour with no fire to it! It is not him who said he would not report, it is his father. I was pointing his agent and father, not him. Nevertheless NHL teams don't want to have anything to do with that garbage. Lindros left a real bad taste to that regard. And if you think that the scouts did not know this as quick or quicker than messageboards, you are really naive... The point is Marchand is hurting his chances as it stands right today....He would need a full, open and public commitment on his part to report asap in order to dilute all these rumours and put an end to the speculation. But I doubt that he intends to do just that. The longer he waits, the more he is proving the point. Basically what you're saying is that Marchand hasn't said a word about it himself...AND CONTINUES TO NOT SAY ANYTHING...so that pretty much proves that he has no intention of reporting to Val D'Or. That's good enough for me!! Let's try and destroy this little bastard's future in hockey if we can. I'm sure the NHL GM's will all be reading this messageboard with great interest before the draft so let's all get on board and tear Marchand apart. Last year he played his guts out for the Wildcats - but that was LAST year so now he's fair game. Grow up and / or smarten up. He's an 18 year old boy who's being trashed for not having said or done anything. The Miranda rights guarantee " You have the right to remain silent. If you give up that right anything you say can be used against you in a court of law." Apparently persons not accused of a crime don't have those same rights. Let's just suppose that Marchand reports to Val D'Or, but in the meantime he's dropped from the 4th round to the 8th round in the draft and so loses somewhere in the vicinity of half a million dollars in a signing bonus. The reason for his being dropped down 4 rounds is because of your posts on the messageboard being taken seriously by the NHL GM's.....and Marchand is now suing you for libel .....what will your defense be? I doubt that the fact that he hasn't said anything about reporting to Val D'Or is going to carry you very far. Get your chequebook out because you're going to have to pay the lost earnings, damages, court costs and legal fees for both sides. NHL GM's reading this message board give me a f-ing break.

Nowhere in that article from the Halifax Daily News does it quote Marchand as saying he won't report to Val D'Or. It vaguely says he isn't keen on going....it doesn't say he stated that he won't go. It also says he's looking into other possibilites in the U.S. So what? I'm not keen on getting up and going to work most days and I've been guilty of looking at the want ads.....doesn't mean a thing. If you don't explore the marketplace how do you know what you're worth or what your options are? I'll wait until there is something specific and not just random speculation before I start slicing up my pillows and heating up the tar.

It's a lovely day in the neighborhood....can you say "Satire"? I'd like to assume that this post is in reference to your earlier, longer post... please tell me that is so... because otherwise I have a MUCH longer response waiting for you. I feel I HAVE to thoroughly question you on this since we have all seen you get a little bit ridiculous when posting on other topics in the past. (i.e. Nolan/Hodge "incident" in Gatineau) In the case of your "stance" in this latest discussion it is hard to separate your true feelings from that which has been falsified because - quite frankly - you've taken such outlandish stances on other subjects it's hard to separate truth from fiction as far as you're concerned. And if it IS you trying to be funny, sorry, but you did a piss poor job.

I don't honestly think any NHL GM's are following this board....does that help?
I don't feel that taking a stance against racism is ridiculous.
I don't think it's time to tear Marchand apart on rumor and innuendo. I'd rather wait and see what HE says or does and not third party reports.
If it seems totally assinine, it was probably meant to be. I don't try and camoflauge it as fact or well thought out supposition.
Better?

How would you feel if your boss walked in tomorrow morning and transferred you to the Val d'Or division of your company? And at the same time slashed your benefits substantially? And informed you that once in Val d'Or, you would be travelling much more? Would you be thrilled? I wouldn't be... Would you look for other options with other companies (in Marchand's case other hockey leagues)? I probably would...

Maybe he knows he'll just end up playing in the AUAA anyway.

You'd think they would've checked with him last year about this issue since he was the main ingredient in the bourdon trade,.

They know from the get go this is how the game operates. If he thinks it bad here wait to see someday if he does make it in the pro's to see how many time he will get traded. So give me a Break . Sports its part of the game to possible be traded. If he love the game that much and want's to play in the NHL stop crying and report

What do you think Europe is next door.

Getting traded in Jr is nothing like getting traded in the pros ... sometimes it can be a great move ... but other times like this one it is a horrible move. He isn't getting $2 million a year that would help him make it a better stay there ... plus ... he has to live in somebody else's house. How is that anything similar to getting traded from NYR (big market) to Florida (crappy market) ?
