But is this not the most interesting training camp in years? Look at all the unknowns, and if memory serves me correctly we've picked up a few good free agents over the years, and I don't think we were putting half the effort Nolan is presently. Bourque, Bernier, Saunders and the rest of losses are disappointing, but I've waited for adequate toughness for years, and it sounds like we're getting this year. I still hoping to swing a deal for Marty Doyle. I don't think getting Marty Doyle as one of our 20's will get us any closer to the Memorial Cup.

Until a bona fide 20 year old center shows up, yep.
So you think the Cats need a 20YO 4th liner who can fight over a bona fide 20YO 1st line center..... interesting.[/quote]

I actually don't care who the hell it is, although I am partial to Doyle, but am I the only one who has noticed how teams have run over us at home? And then the "Saunders is our best defense man, we can't afford him fighting bologna" from last year. Then the return of Doucette (thank God), because we lacked toughness............ give up a 20 year old spot so the whole team plays tough, and our talented forwards are protected....... yes, I am willing if the free agents are not as tough as advertised. If they are then I'll be happy to watch the Doyle fights on-line. I leave the rink one hell of a lot less disappointed with a loss when we play like we're not scared , and in the long run, everyone plays with more confidence. If we are over burdened with tough players (I'll quit drinking when I see that), then they can be traded, and yes teams are willing to trade for quality fighters.

Yes we showed that after our 99-00. We missed the playoffs both years afterward. Then we finished 5th in the league in a weak division and everybody was saying how fast we had improved, but the numbers were inflated. Actually, when Moncton finished 5th in 02-03, they were in a very tough division and conference. In the Maritime division alone, Moncton was behind Halifax and Bathurst. And in the conference, also behind Baie-Comeau and Quebec. No team in the other conference finished ahead of them. So it was 3rd in the division, 5th in the conference, 5th overall.

I'd like to know what team came in Moncton and intimidated the Cats the last 2 years...it definitely wasn't Halifax even with Cormier had a candy ass team and Cormier got KOed by Doucette. The year before the Cats had an army of tough guys, basically the toughest team in the Q.

You beat me to it... The Cats would have finished 2nd or 3rd overall had they been in a weaker conference.
