Did Neil Hodge have to take that stab at Brousseau's kid in the paper this morning? Not saying that it is not true (that he was picked because his father is the Governor) as it probably is, but he could have used more tact.

I noticed that......I thought that it was a cheap shot uncalled for.
He should've just said that he was a longshot to make the team and left it at that......+ since when does Neil Hodge tell it like it is ?

Was a cheap shot.
Maybe Hodge is looking to get reassigned to reporting on the Beavers or lawn bowling?

Any way you look at it, it was a stupid thing to do to pick the kid - they should have given him an FA invite to camp and used the 12th rounder to secure the rights to some impact American who could possibly become available in the future.
I am sure they did it as a favour to Brousseau, but is it really a favour? Everyone and their dog knows the kid was drafted for one reason only - personally I would be embarrassed if it was me or my kid.

Although Hodge stated the obvious, if he managed to ticked someone off in the Wildcats front office with a comment like that, the Wildcats might not be as accommodating to Hodge next he wants to get comments or do an interview with someone from the team.

I doubt it ... Hodge's daily articles are the best advertising the team gets.

That may be true, but it wouldn't be the first time a reporter got crapped on by a team for comments that they made

The kid is 16 or 17 and trust me his friends and classmates are letting him hear about it. He definetly read what Hodge said and I assume his dad did too. That couldn't of went over well but how bad it was? who knows. I don't care if it's Mario Lemieux's son, I wish we could of drafted someone who can be a role player(Christian Gaudet) or a long shot american or played heading the college route. Then again, some teams do worse with their late round picks like give them up or trade them for nothing.

At the end of the day it was a stupid move, and it didn't do the kid or his dad any favours - just made them look foolish ... it would have been one thing if the kid was a legitimate prospect who was on the bubble to be drafted, but it seems as if this kid was completely off the radar, posting average stats in a league that produces very few Q players. At the end of the day, it was a 12th round pick, and it is not like it will have any long lasting impact on the franchise. At least they didn't blow a 4th rounder on him like Roy did on his son.

I wonder if it's a record. Maybe he's the first ever 3rd pairing d-man in a high school league to get drafted in the Q.

Has anyone noticed that Hodge has not appeared in the paper in the last 3-4 days, probably vacation but the timing is interesting.
