If Lamoureaux is 220 he'll need to lose some weight. Why is that? Is he 6'5 ?

I would think with the number of forwards in camp, Lamoureux is going to be in tough to make the team - he will have to quickly establish himself in pre-season games as a tough guy capable of putting a pounding on guys ... otherwise, I would think the edge would go to a guy like Whelan who plays defense, where we have much less depth. From what I heard Lamoureux will be a top heavyweight at 19 and can already take care of himself. Whelan is much smaller at 6' 185lbs. I'm not sure if he is mobile enough to play regular in the Q(see Firlotte and Herr) so they may all be competing for a forward job. I think you have to keep a guy like that and give him time...he was a PPGM player in the playoffs this year so he has some skill. If you have to dress him 45-50 games against the tough teams.

How many 6'6" - 6'7" prospects do we currently own the rights to?

Kind of a weird weekend in the Q ... very few trades and no big names got moved, not even many solid overagers. The Cats really left me scratching my head ... still have too many overagers, way too many forwards (especially if Brown, MacAusland, and Samuels-Thomas all report), no depth in goal, and a sketchy looking blueline. I think Nick Emmanuele's chances of sticking just went up ... all we have on defense is Pianosi and Barberio, who are clearly locks, an uninspiring trio of 19 year olds in Goyens, Ouskun, and Tolles, who look likely to stick due to a lack of other options, and the possibility of rookies Dimitruk and Firlotte. Best case would be that we add two euro d-men and Tommy Cross to this group ... but I am not going to hold my breath. Up front, I count as many as 16 forwards who are either returning vets and/or locks to make it if they show (Brown, MacAusland, Samuels-Thomas) ... it seems doubtful they would carry three OA forwards just as a numbers game up front ... perhaps they are seriously continuing going with Sniderman and Riopel again this year? I know I dismissed the idea of a euro goalie earlier ... but as I think of it, assuming we could get a NHL drafted euro goalie - we could bring him in to split time with Riopel in the first half - and then deal him to a goalie starved contender at Xmas time ... Flynn's comments in the paper over the last week really left me with the feeling that there wouldn't be any trades going down this weekend. Which is too bad because I think a 3rd to 5th round pick could have been had for Lincourt or Sniderman. At this point in time the defence looks scary...scary bad. There is no way we're going to replace AMac and Welton but there is still hope that we can string together a respectable D corps. It is essential that we get at least one good Euro d-man in the import draft. Then we hope and pray that we can get Tommy Cross to report. Last but not least there is still hope of acquiring a 20 year old d-man sometime during training camp or even during the early months of the season. Is there anyone out there worth trying to acquire? Prokopetz (although CB looks thin on D as well and I think they will wanna keep him), Andricopolous and Bergeron from Quebec, and Samuel Richard of VD are the only one's I can really think of off the top of my head. Best-Case Scenario: Pianosi - 20 YO/Euro Baberio - Cross Ouskun/Goyens/Euro/FA - Dimitruk Worst Case: Pianosi - Ouskun Barberio - Goyens Tolles - Whelan/Furlotte I hope that it's the best case scenario, pray that it's not the worst case scenario, but in the end I'm sure it will be somewhere in between. As for the goaltending situation I really hope they have some sort of plan for bringing in a decent back-up and I hope that plan isn't keeping Sniderman as a 20 YO. Any back-up's available via trade?
