Though I would like to add that Mr.Bourque is an excellent selection for the national anthem. When he does the Canadian and American anthems ... I think he should be pencilled in for 3rd star.

A few points.
Not surprised that the dimming of the lights was prohibited by the league.... if it was because of US doing it (and not PEI or Lewiston) I'd almost be willing to bet that it rumpled Partick Roy the wrong was in the finals last year. Sounds like somethign only Rimouski or Quebec would complain about.
The TV point Steve brought up makes alot of sense as well... I have Game 1 of the finals on tape and the cameramen seemed to get VERY confused when the lights went out.... they were looking for something to shoot and couldn't see a damned thing.
I too like the horn if only for it's uniqueness... not too loud, not to quiet... and NOONE else has one like it (in the Q at least).
What I can't help but wonder is what the atmosphere would be like this year without the new scoreboard. It has gone down from last year as a whole (that's to be expected of course)... but I find the scoreboard does tend to liven things up a bit at times. I always laughed when Halifax got their new scoreboard installed at the MC before the 02-03 season.... but after seeing quite a few games down there that same season, I realized that it CAN make a difference in the overall game atmosphere (though some things they've shown - and not shown - on that board made me scratch my head). Once we got the new board here, I appreciated it even more. IMO it's just a nice added bonus for the fans.
EDIT - .... and Valmond Bourque is the best anthem singer we've ever had.

I like the new video screens, but I have to question why every game we see INXS, Shout, YMCA, Bon Jovi, Stompin' Tom and Great Big Sea ... mix it up a bit.
I would not shed a tear if I did not see that Animal House clip again this year...
Please ... for the love of doG - DO NOT bring back that band! I go to the Coliseum for hockey, not to see some middle aged "rockers" playing music.
Also, it was noted that the on ice product needs to sell itself, I find on multiple occasions the ice is terrible at the start of a period because the intermission "show" went long. Work on having the show no more than 5 minutes. If no activities are taking place at the zamboni entrance, have the zambonies out waiting to clean the ice. Don't wait until everybody is off the ice and Wild Willie puts his ATV away. Once they fire the last t-shirt from the kleen... er Majesta box get the zambonies moving. Too many times we see water in the corners leading to horrific turn overs. Its all about timing, or where you can save time.

So....you have a problem with the Village People? That's their anthem.....not that there's anything wrong with it.

Note: The Fire Marshall will no longer allow the line ropes in front of concessions to be set up. The City were going to paint lines on the floor as a replacement. The Fire Marshall also has restricted anything from being set-up out side the marked lines thus no band space anymore.

The Fire Marshall also has restricted anything from being set-up out side the marked lines thus no band space anymore. I completely understand the need for safety - but not allowing the ropes to form lines seems like it counters safety. Instead of an organized line that snakes in a confined space you could now have lines stretching to the wall and blocking safe passage on the mezzanine...

Its an issue for when people are trying to leave the building all at once during an emergency ... the ropes are in the way and present a hazard. The Fire Marshall doesn't care so much about the normal operation of the Coliseum when there is no emergency ... its when there is an emergency and they have to evacuate the building that they are concerned with.

How about "Ding Dong" the guy that replaced Andrew. I think his name is Richard but everyone in my section refers to him as Ding Dong.
He has this annoying ability to make every word he says twice as long as it actually is by adding "ah" to the end.
When he delivers the pizza and says "Ding Dong" it crackes me up.
He is also a bit slow on the recycling seats deal, there was a couple games they moved the people to the new seats in the third period.
I think he could go the same way as the band.....out the door.
Otherwise I give Monctin great marks, I have been in many rinks and Moncton does a good job. I do agree with the light dimming...bring it back.

I heard he does the laying on of the hands in the parking lot after losses. Serpentizing by appointment only. Amen.

Not sure if this has been suggested or even possible, but it would be nice to have the out-of-town scores posted on the screen every now and then troughout the game.

Hear, hear. He's awesome. The performances I've seen on the road have paled in comparison....we're lucky to have him. On a somewhat related note, I was at the SJ game last week, and their pre-game ceremony must have lasted for 15 minutes. It was listed as a 7:30 start, but it was closer to 7:50 when it got started. The Salvation Army people spoke forever, and I understand it's a good cause and all, but it really slowed things down and the crowd was pretty silent by the time the puck dropped. I don't think the players enjoy standing around the bluelines for that long waiting, either...
