How are we for goalies this year?
Is there any truth to the rumour that Sniderman may not be back?

I was in the office a few days before the Torchetti announcement and we were talking about the line-up, all indications were that the goaltending tandem was already pretty much penciled in as Sniderman and Riopel but that was before we had a coach so it might have changed.

Hmm... maybe Sniderman isn't happy with his ice time?

That was one of the reasons he wanted to come here I thought? Didn't he want the opportunity to earn the no.1 spot. At least that was before Tordjman was brought in. At least this year he should have ample opportunity to earn it with new coaches etc. I haven't heard of any other FA goalies comming in as of yet.

Does anyone know if Blouin is coming to camp? I think he is still on the roster, but he may have given up on major junior ... anyone know his status?

He'll be in moncton on wednesday. I believe he is hoping to steal Sniderman's spot like Sniderman did to him last year, there's a bit of a rivalry between the two of them.

Blouin is mentally weak and plays too deep in his net ... at crunch time he seems to collapse. But with a new Coach I suspect he'll get as long a look as his play deserves. What worries me is that he'll have another good camp like he did last year ... and fool the new coach into thinking he is a solid goaltender.

I agree. Sniderman played a lot more solidly than Blouin did. His confidence was shaky on a good team how is it going to be on a mediocer team?

If this coach has any common sense he'll take note of Sniderman and Blouin's respective styles and he'll be able to make a fair assumption from there. Not hard to tell which one would translate into more wins over the course of a season. And Sniderman WILL be back... should be in town this week or early next... and I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't happy with his ice time last year. Don't see why this problem wouldn't resolve itself this year, however.

This is the year Riopel cuts his teeth and becomes the first round draft choice that will represent us for the next three years.

Just some information, Sniderman is in Moncton now.. I saw him at lunch running in Riverview, so my guess is he will be back..My guess is that he will be starting in goal in the upcoming season.

i hope they play riopel a fair amount this season to prep him for the starting job. i still maintain that JCB could've held the fort last year if crawford hadn't come back as a 20 and played 50 games in 04-05. that hurt JCB big time. i don't want to see that happen again.

I can't see them letting that happen this time as we are rebuilding and we will need to get our young guys the experience. But having said that if Sniderman plays well and Riopel doesn't then that may change things. But my guess is the starting job is Sniderman's to lose.
